Mrs. Walker has been a well-known and respected resident of this county for eleven years, and for her loving kindness and admirable qualities she was beloved by all who knew her. Predeceased by his wives Evelyn Agnes Mooney and Helena Boles (Cox), brothers Robert and Ronald, sisters Joyce, Winifred Kean (Bill), Mildred Jones (Oliver), Myrtle Curran (Jack) and Marilyn Jordan (Robert). Survived by his loving children Gary Dixon (Dorothy) and Barbara-Ann Lajoie (Emile), sisters Myrna Moore (Oliver) and Marlene Day (Robert), grandchildren Nicole Dixon Davoudi and Tammy Mainville (Derek), and great grandchildren Mekayla and Ava Davoudi, Brandon, Joshua and Ryan Mainville, and special friend Jessie Foster. Ernie was stepfather of Bob (Marlene) Cox and the late Joyce Stewart. He was a Veteran of WWII, member of the Lanark & Renfrew Scottish Regiment, The King's Own Rifles and the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders. He was appointed Acting Sergeant and eventually Acting Sergeant Major. He fought in Belgium, France, Holland and Germany. He went overseas in 1943 on the Moritania and returned in 1945 on the Queen Elizabeth. Before and after the war, he worked for the Perth Shoe Co., the Fuller Brush, Parks Construction, and the Canadian Pacific Railway as a car man. He was born in Perth, lived in Perth, moved to Ottawa, then on to Toronto, retired back to Perth and then moved to Kemptville. He was an ordinary, yet extraordinary man, who was loved, cherished and admired by many friends and family. He will be remembered for his compassion, devotion, laughter, playing the harmonica, whistling, teasing, his wonderful, inspiring voice especially when he sang "How Great Thou Art: on the radio and in church, his never failing love, faith and service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He left this life the same way he lived it with warmth, grace, courage, strength, dignity and humor. He has exchanged his earthly home for his heavenly one. He has just changed addresses. It would appear that the Bards occupied Posso prior to 1296 when Thomas de Bard was sheriff of Peebles (less than six miles distant from Posso). Perth Courier 23 October, 1903 Dodds A well known resident of Bathurst Township died in Hamilton on Wednesday morning from blood poisoning induced from an operation for appendicitis, in the stead of Mr. James M. Dodds. The remains arrived in town this (Thursday) morning and were taken to his father's residence at Glen Tay. The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at two o'clock to Elmwood Cemetery. Deceased was the son of Mr. Ralph Dodds, Glen Tay, and was 40 years and six months old. He had lived in Glen Tay all his life until a year ago when he went to Brockville and engaged with the J.W. Mann co. When this firm sold to the Deering Co. deceased went to Hamilton. His brother Matthew, of Smith's Falls, was with him when he died. The last six years, Annie has resided at Lanark Lodge. The Perth Courier Perth, Ontario, Canada October 19, 1906, pg. 5 Dodds - In the sudden death of Mrs. Ralph Dodds, of Glen Tay, on Thursday morning last that community and township is bereft of a whole hearted woman. Mrs. Dodds was in her usual health and on Thursday morning was going about as usual until about 10 o'clock when she fell in a faint. Members of the family went to her aid immediately but could do nothing and she passed away a few moments later. Heart trouble won the cause. Deceased was born in Rochester 72 years ago, daughter of James McKay. When three years of age she came to live with her uncle the late John W. Adams, on the Scotch Line, and his home was her home until her marriage with Mr. Ralph Dodds in 1851. Their marriage was a long and happy one and the bereaved and aged husband is tendered the sympathy of the community in the sudden loss he has been called upon to bear in the death of his sharer of joyts and sorrows for more than 55 years. Resting at the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior, where friends may call on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thence to Grace St. Andrews United Church, Arnprior, for funeral service on Monday, November 11, 1991, at 1 p.m. Interment Arnprior Cemetery.
