4260 | Dickenson County, Virginia, United States reported to be where he died Earliest explorers in Wise County was about 1750 - Thomas Walker and hristopher Gist. Forts built after 1774. Considered too dangerous, even for hunting, until after 1794. The Cherokee conquered the area including Wise from the Xualae between 1671 and 1685. It was later contested by the Six Nations and the Shawnee. Cherokee and Shawnee hunting parties fought a protracted battle at the headwaters of the Clinch River for two days in the summer of 1786, a victory for the Cherokee although losses were heavy on both sides. Russell County to the east of Wise; established in 1786 from a section of Washington County. Once vast, Russell County was split several times, giving rise to Tazewell County, Lee County, Scott County, Wise County, Buchanan County and Dickenson County. Dickenson County, formed in 1880 from parts of Buchanan County, Russell County, and Wise County, is Virginia's youngest county. Buchanan County was established in 1858 from parts of Russell and Tazewell counties, and it was named in honor of then-President James Buchanan; however, the pronunciation of the county's name differs from that of the 15th president's surname, with locals saying "Boo-can-nin". In 1880, part of Buchanan County was taken to form Dickenson County. Tazewell County: In the spring of 1771, Thomas and John Witten established the first permanent settlement in Tazewell County at Crab Orchard. As population increased in the area, Tazewell County was created on December 20, 1799. The land for the county was taken from portions of Wythe and Russell counties. | Blair, Alexander (I15859)

4263 | Died At Bathurst, on the 20th May, at his father's residence, Aaron Blackburn, second son of John Blackburn, Bathurst, Aged 29 years. His face we now no more shall see His voce we cannot hear For he no more shall speak to thee, To dry the falling tear. The opening grave receives his dust, New dark and cold he lies; But oh! his spirit with the just, Lives far above the skies. In bliss midst the shining throng, He endless rest has found, Where saints an dangels tune their song And glory shines around. Blest Saviour, lead us in the way Our friend so lately trod; And when we drop this frame of clay May we be found with God. The Perth Courier Perth, Ontario, Canada 3 June 1853 | Blackburn, Aaron (I22458)

4271 | Died Blair - at Brooke, on Feb. 4th, 1909, John Blair, aged 89 years. The Perth Courier Perth, Ontario, Canada February 12, 1909 Blair The late John Blair who died at his home at Brooke on the 4th inst., and whose remains were interred in White's Cemetery, was truly a pioneer settler of Bathurst. He came to this county from Glasgow, Scotland, where he was born in 1820, with his parent Wm. Blair and family, beeing then a mere babe in arms. The family settled for a time in the primeval forest in South Sherbrooke near the Bathurst line, but shortly afterwards homesteaded in Bathurst. William Blair was one of the earliest settlers of theh Brooke section of the Brooke section of Bathurst, and a founder of the Blair family in that township. The old homestead remained in the family for long generations and passed to his son James W. who farmed it till he sold out and moved to town a few years ago. The late John Blair was married to Margaret Truelove when both were in the heyday of youth, and they struck bravely into the virgin forest, locating their home on the sixth line, in the rear of a farm on the fifth concession. The union was blessed with a large family, and those surviving today are Neil, John, James and Hugh, and Robert of Sharbot Lake; Mrs Andrew Gamble, Wemyss, and Mrs. Wm. Gamble, Clarendon. Mrs Blair died two years ago. Two brothers and one sister also survive: Hugh, postmaster at Rideau View near Manotick, now in his 92nd year; James W. of town, and Mrs John Truelove, Bathurst. A curious coincidence is here narrated in reference to the political beliefs of the three brothers: Hugh Blair and his family are all Liberals, John Blair and his family, Consservative, and James W. Blair Independent. The Perth Courier Perth, Ontario, Canada 19 February, 1909 | Blair, John Sr. (I2610)

4290 | Died aged 67 years. Born 1800 or 1801. Thomas was born IRELAND, not England. He was the son of Joseph Moulton. There was a Thomas Moulton, son of Joseph and Hannah, born England about the same year..BUT HE IS NOT THE SAME THOMAS MOULTON IN THIS MEMORIAL. There is much evidence that Thomas Moulton 1801-1868 was born Ireland, probably County Carlow, or possibly County Wexford near the Carlow boundary. His descendants know he was born Ireland.
