3654 | Clarice A. Wold Haugen, 85 formerly of Strathcona, died Saturday, February 16, 2002. Services were held Thursday, Feb 21 at 11 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. John Kerr officiating. Casket bearers were Jim Dostal, Scot Eidness, Merle Wold, Kelvin Wold, Randy Wold and Jay Wold. Keith Jarolimek was the honorary casket bearers. A graveside service and interment took place at Strathcona on Sunday, Feb 24. Gearhart Chapel of Coon Rapids was in charge of the arrangements. Clarice A Syverson was born on Nov.26, 1916 in East Park Township, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Underdahl) Syverson. She was a longtime member of Gustav Adolph Church in Strathcona. Clarice married Helmer Wold and the couple farmed near Strathcona. After Helmer's death, she moved to the Twin Cities. in 1967, she married Clifford Haugen and they made their home in Anoka. Clifford died in 1996. Clarice is survived by a daughter Rachel (John) Nelson of Blaine: Daughter-in-law Gretchen Wold of Detroit Lakes, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren: the Clifford Haugen family, special friend, Gary Nepstad: and many nieces and nephews. 3662 | Clark Gilmour Heald, son of Clark and Catherine Gilmour Heald, was born near Wells, Kansas, February 25, 1884, and died of a heart attack at his home in the Sunnyside district, October 5, 1946. He was 62 years, 7 months and 10 days old at the time of his death, having spent his entire life in the same school district. He was united in marriage to Zella Lewis of Newton, on Nov. 27, 1907. To this union were born six sons, five of whom survive him, John Gilmour having died June 13, 1920, at the age of two years. Burial was in the Mr. Liberty cemetery near Oak Hill. Mr. Heald was devoted to his home, and was most contented with his family at his own fireside. His neighbors could always depend on his help in time of need. He gave much of his time for the benefit of his community, holding township offices, doing Farm Bureau work, and busing himself with other activities for the benefit of his community. Each of the five sons was graduated from Sunnyside school District No 45, the same school their father attended, and where Zella Lewis taught before her marriage to Mr. Heald. | Heald, Clark Gilmour (I7595)

3663 | Clark Heald, who died at his home in Grant Township, Ottawa County Kansas, September 27, 1900, aged 70 years, 7 months, 15 days, was born in Belleville, Jefferson County, New York, February 12, 1830. When two years of age, he came with his parents to Brantingham (Burmingham), Erie County, Ohio. In 1856, he moved to Delaware County, Iowa. During the War of the Rebellion, he was a member of Co., A, 7th Regt. Iowa Vo. Cavalry and was mustered out of service October 26, 1865, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In 1866, he was united in marriage to Catharine Gilmour, in Kossuth County, Iowa. To this union seven sons and three daughters were born, of whom five sons and three daughters are still living. In 1871, he moved to Kossuth County, Iowa, and in 1872, to Wabaunsee County, Kansas. In 1874, he moved to Grant Twsp., Ottawa County, where he resided continously until his death. Clark was the second of seven sons, two of whom survive him, Alonzo K. and Amos S. both residing in Iowa. For more than fifty years the writer of this was intimately and closely associated with him, and known him to have been a loving son, kind brother, faithful husband, dutiful parent, honest and upright neighbor and a firm friend. His home and it's agreeable associations and his love for his relatives were in themselves a pleasant world to him. Thus has passed away another of our early settlers. He lived more than 26 years in the county, a man genial and courteous in his intercourse with his fellowmen, honest and upright in his character, kind and affectionate to his family, and a friend to all. He leaves a noble, loving wife, eight children, two brothers and many other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. 3689 | Clifford Baird Clifford Baird, age 74, of St. Paul's Home, Dauphin, died July 5, 1973, at Dauphin General Hospital. The funeral was held July 9 at First Baptist Church, Dauphin, with Rev. J.A. Roskam officiating. Pallbearers were Thomas Brown, R.B. Colwell, Garry Hockridge, Len Richardson, Joe Tischinski and Bill Carmichael. Riverside funeral chapel was in charge of arrangements. Clifford Baird was born in Rathwell. Educated in Dauphin, he became a cattle buyer and butcher with his father until 1939. He then became an employee of the Town of Dauphin as a painter until ill health forced him to retire. He then lived in St. Paul's Home. Surviving are three duaghers, (Leah) Mrs Ed McCallum of Dauphin, (Ethel) Mrs. Lavern Grey of Edmonton, (Marion) Mrs. Edward Wahlenberg of Thompson; three sons, Roy of Snow Lake, Hugh A. of Dauphin, Albert of Toronto; four brothers, William of Virden, Ross of Richmond Hill, BC, Edward of Swan River, Roy of Ottawa; two dissters, Mrs. Ruby Little and Mrs. Janet Wallace, both of Dauphin; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Clinton was the first child born for Ruby and Albert on the Campbell farm. He grew up farming and stayed on to help his parents run the farm until they retired. In the early years Clinton enjoyted playing the guitar and mandolin at dances on the Brule. He liked animals and the great outdoors. When he was younger Clinton liked to hunt and play baseball. He loved his nieces and nephews and they all knew he had a big heart. Casket bearers were Jim bearers were Jim Bartraw, Bill Bartraw, Gary Meehan, Jim Barber, Mark Barber and George Good. 3695 | CLOW DOBBIE FILLMORE. Home of Mrs. D. Dobbie, 814 Sherburn street, Winnipeg, was the scene of a pretty wedding August 3 when her only daughter, G. Alice R. Dobbie, became the bride of Harold R. Clow, Fillmore, son of Mr. William Clow, Virden, Man., and the late Mrs. Clow. Rev. J. A. Bowman, pastor of Epworth United church, Winnipeg, officiated. The fireplace banked with snapdragons, delphiniums, and ferns was the setting for the ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, John Dobbie, wore a gown of dusky pink crepe. She carried talisman roses and sweet peas. Miss Myrtle Lane, Virden, was bridesmaid and wore navy sheer polka dot with corsage of sweetheart roses. Miss Thirza Cann, neice of the groom, as flower girl, wore forget- me-not taffeta and carried sweet peas and delphiniums. Morris Clow, Minnedosa, attended his brother. Wedding music was played by Mrs. H. Dandy, Winnipeg. Following the ceremony a buffet luncheon and reception was held. Mr. and Mrs. Clow left for Vancouver. The bride travelled In a two-piece frock of midnight blue crepe with hat and accessories. On their return they will reside in Fillmore. 3700 | Clyde Randolph Burns, of Columbia, devoted husband to the late Emmie Gibson Burns, died April 3, 2012. Born on September 22, 1922 in Charleston, he was a son of the late Allan Smarte and Adela G. Richter Burns. Mr. Burns attended the College of Charleston where he met his wife of 64 years. He retired after 30 years of service at Southern Bell Telephone Company. He was a lifetime member and past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member and past president of the Columbia Gem and Mineral Society. Mr. Burns was proud of the 10 years he devoted to Boy Scouting as scoutmaster of Troup 4 at St. Martin's in the Field Episcopal Church, where he and his wife were charter members. He and his family were avid campers and loved the outdoors and spent quality time at their lake property. He never met a stranger and will always be known for his kindness, generosity and gift of conversation. He was active in the life of his church - St. Michael's and All Angels. He was predeceased by his brother, Edmund Allan Burns.
