Doug was the owner of Cavers Jewellers and Mills China and Gift Shop, a veteran of WWII, and long time member of the True Britons Masonic Lodge of Perth; as a long time member and Past President of the Perth Rotary Club, he was honoured with a Paul Harris Award for outstanding dedication and service. Doug will be sadly missed by Flo, his beloved wife of 62 years, his son Peter and his brother Kenneth (Grace) Cavers. He was predeceased by his parents James Cavers and May Campbell and his brother Arthur (late Collette) Cavers. Doug will be fondly remembered by Krista (Zeff) Bernstien and their daughter Jaela, all his family and many good friends. Florence was predeceased by brother Clarence (Helen) Dixon and sisters Rhoda (Laurence) Tomalty, Ethel (George) McGibbon and Lyla (George) Coombes. She was a registered nurse for many years at the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth and Rideau Regional Centre in Smiths Falls, worked with Doug and staff as co-owner of Mill's China Shop, Perth and volunteered many hours for the Salvation Army in Perth.

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St W., Perth on Friday, July 22nd, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held in the chapel, Saturday at 1:30 P.M. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. #28 Robert and Janet Boyle may have operated a stopping place (1 story log house) as their property was located on the edge of Lanark village at the point where the road branches, travelling west towards Watson's Corners and north towards Hopetown. This junction would be important for access to timber shanties located further west and north.
