TOM FLOURNOY SUCCUMBS TO A FEW DAYS OF PNEUMONIA Mrs. Anna Flournoy, wife of Tom Flournoy, died at the family home, twelve miles west of this city, Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock, after an illness of only a few days with pneumonia. The remains were taken to Newville, and the funeral and interment will be held there at one o'clock this afternoon. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Milligan and sister of Ira Milligan, of Newville, and besides these she is survived by the husband and two children: one boy, Henry, twelve years old, and one daughter, Irma six years old. She was thirty-three the 16th of last January, was one of the most popular women of the community in which she lived, well known and universally esteemed, and her early death will be a source of keen regret to numberless friends in southern Tehama county. - Transcribed by E. A native of Glenn county, he was born in 1867, and has resided in this area all of his life. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Wahl of Red Bluff, a granddaughter, Donna Rae Wahl, a grandson Ensign Karl Wahl, Jr., who is attending a Diesel Engineering school at North Carolina State College, Raleigh, North Carolina, and three brothers, Isaac, D. Luce of Elk Creek, Jack Luce of Newville and Guy Luce of Calaveras county. There are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Newville cemetery. Orland Unit, Monday, 18 December 1944: John Luce Dies At Willows John Luce of Newville, died Saturday night at the hospital at Willows where he had been ill for several days. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Newville cemetery with Rev. H. S. Saxby, of Willows officiating. John Luce was born at Newville on Dec. 3, 1867, and lived there his entire life. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carl Wahl, of Red Bluff, and two grandchildren. Zacariah Luce is next to her and an unknown marker is at his head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Orland Unit" (Orland, California), Thursday, 6 April 1950 Services held Here Today for Mrs. Edith Luce Funeral services are being held here today for Mrs. Edith Luce, 72, native and lifelong resident of Glenn county, who died Monday evening in Orland. Burial will be this afternoon in the Newville cemetery. Mrs. Luce was the daughter of William and Sarah Lockwood, Glenn county pioneers, who were married in England came to this country as a young couple and established their home in the Newville district in the early days. Their marriage endured for 56 years before death claimed them within a week of each other in 1927. Their daughter, Edith, was born on the old Griffith ranch near Elk Creek March 1, 1878. The family moved to the old Scribner ranch northwest of Newville in 1897, and her marriage to Zachariah Luce took place in 1903. Her husband, who preceded her in death about a year ago, was also a member of a pioneer family. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Luce, had come to California in 1852, and had settled in the Newville section in 1864. The ranch on which Mr. and Mrs. "Zach" Luce made their home until his death was part of the old Luce ranch, with some adjoining land that they had purchased. Mrs. Luce had been in ill health for some time, and about a week before her death had taken rooms at the Laura Millsap place in Orland, in order to be near to medical service. Surviving is one brother, Lester Lockwood, and a nephew, Kenneth Curran, of Paradise, who was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Luce.
