2559 Baptized 13 Feb 1825 to John Cameron and Ann McNaughton at Beckwith.

"Death of an old Beckwith Resident. We are requested this week to publish the death of the late Alexander Cameron, who died at his residence, Carleton Place, Thursday, 4th August, after a painful illness of ten months, at the age of 67 years and 7 months. Mr. Cameron was born and brought up on a farm on the 7th line of Beckwith, now owned by Mr. Henderson, and it was on this farm deceased spent his boyhood and all his manhood, excepting a few years. He sold his place and removed to Carleton Place, where he bought a comfortable dwelling house and property near the Junction, and spent the remainder of his days there. He suffered terribly at times, yet he bore his trouble with christian patience, and resting alone on the finished work of Christ for his soul's safety, he passed victoriously away from this World. He was a hard working man till within some months of his death, and it may be said of him what was said of man at the beginning: he earned his bread by the sweat of his brow. He leaves a widow and five of a family, all of whom were about him the last hours of his life. His daughters are Mrs. McTavish, of North Elmsley, Mrs. D. Stewart, of Carleton Place. The youngest is at home, and unmarried. His eldest son, John, is a constant employee of Edwards and Cos. The youngest son is head and worthy clerk of Mr. Cole, hardware merchant, Carleton Place. His family are all well-doing and are much respected. His sons-in-law are Mr. John McTavish, of North Elmsley Mr. D. Stewart, of Carleton Place - both men of temperate and Christian character, widely known and highly respected in the community in which they reside. Com."

2560 Baptized 18 Jul 1818 at Upper Creggan, Co. Armagh to Patrick Conlon and Bridget Rafferty

"Mr. James Conlon, Sr. There died at his residence in Glen Tay, Monday evening, one of the county's oldest inhabitants in the person of Mr. James Conlon, sr., aged 84 years. About two months ago deceased was stricken with paralysis which caused him to keep his bed until death released him. Mr. Conlon possessed as remarkable vitality, and was conscious to the last. About half an hour before he died, he called his son, Mr. James Conlon, jr., to his bedside but when the latter arrived the old gentleman's speech had deserted him.

Deceased was a blacksmith by trade and was well and favorably known throughout the district. In politics he had ever been a staunch Reformer. Born in County Armagh, Ireland, deceased emigrated to this country when a youth and was a resident of Glen Tay for over 58 years. Shortly after settling in the Glen Tay district he married Margaret McCabe, who predeceased him two years ago from the same affliction. Besides Mr. James Conlon, jr., with whom deceased lived, there are two sons and six daughters: Richard, of Eganville; Michael, of Barry's Bay; Mrs. Peter Noonan, Mrs. Albert Towner and Mrs. Henry Miller, of Chicago; Mrs. John Burns, Drummond; Mrs. Foley, Bathurst and Mrs. Dixon, of Almonte.

The funeral took place Wednesday to St. John's Church where services were conducted and thence to the Catholic cemetery for interment. The funeral cortege was followed by a large number of friends and acquaintances as a tribute of respect for an old inhabitant."

2564 Barbara Ann Mather Working with animal rescue was 'very important part of her life'.
Barbara Ann Mather was born on Aug. 31, 1936, and grew up on West Cedar St., Livingston, N.J. She attended public school and, in 1954, graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. After her studies, she was a broker in Manhattan, N.Y., firms but then, for many years, she was employed by Mr. Robert Martin and, until her retirement, she worked at the Martin Family Fund at their office in Saddle River, N.J. However, a very important part of her life was as president of the board of PAWS (Pound Animals Welfare Society) where she dealt with employees, volunteers and prospective adopters, not to mention the innumerable animals that PAWS, being the local pound, took in. After the loss of the building, she was involved in the rescue and placement of the animals. It was only after her third heart-valve replacement that she was forced to retire and limit her activities. After a prolonged battle with Alzheimers, she passed away in the early morning of Dec. 20, 2019, in the Green Hill Nursing Home.
She is survived by a couple of cousins and many friends. Friends may gather at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., Montclair, N.J., on Monday, Dec. 30, at 9:45 a.m., prior to the interment at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Clifton, N.J. Donations in her memory can be sent to PAWS, P.O. BOX 149 Montclair, N.J. 07042. For online condolences, please visit www.moriartyfh.com.

2565 Barbara Wallace died peacefully Tuesday, May 21 at St. Johns Medical Center.

She was born December 22, 1928 in Tulsa to Dan and Jewell Wagner. Barbara graduated from Bartlesville College High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Tulsa as a member of Mortar Board and Chi Omega. She was an active member of the theater and puppet theater departments at TU.

While at TU, she met Henry Wallace, a Veteran from New York City. They were married on May, 30, 1950 in Tulsa. He preceded her in death in October, 2012.

Henry and Barbara lived in Dumas and Borger, Texas, where their daughters were born, then moved to Bartlesville in 1959.

She was a wife, mother and grandmother, but she was foremost a musician and teacher.

Barbara began playing the violin at the age of 10 and performed in high school, college and community symphonies nearly her entire life.

Her teaching career in Bartlesville spanned five decades and included public schools - where she started a program in which every fourth grader at Ranch Heights School played an instrument - to very young Suzuki students, Strolling Strings and private students.

She was a clinician for the Kjos Music Company at the American String Teacher's Association conferences. She was named the American String Teacher of the Year for Oklahoma in 1991.

"You only need to practice on days which you eat," Barbara would tell her students with a laugh and a smile.

She especially enjoyed playing quartet music with Bruce Price, Spencer Prentiss and Peggy Varvel.

Barbara was one of the founding members of the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra. She was concert mistress from 1962 until 1977 and was principal second violinist until 2004. Only on a few rare occasions did she miss playing in a concert.

She taught high school music students at a number of prestigious summer camps including Interlochen, Michigan, Wisconsin and the University of Arkansas, where she has a camp scholarship named in her honor.

Along with her close friend Myrna Hershberger, Barbara founded the Strolling Strings group, who performed hundreds of concerts throughout the West and Midwest, and in Germany, Austria and France between 1987 and 2001.

Her legacy is one of bringing music to thousands of young students, teaching them the value, beauty and timelessness of the international language of classical music.

In addition to her musical life, Barbara enjoyed attending to her children's numerous events, including athletics and musical theater as well as numerous camping and canoeing trips.

She was a member of P.E.O., Musical Research Society, the Bartlesville Symphony Society and the Caney United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant son, Dan Patrick.

She is survived by four children: Daughters Tracy Saenz, and husband Esteban, of Eudora, Ks.; Leslie Wallace, and husband Dan Tremblay, of Lafayette, Col.; Sons Bruce Wallace, and wife Susan, of Columbia, Mo.; Paul Wallace, and wife Felicia, of Caney, Ks.; she is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Barbara Helene Wagner Wallace will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Caney United Methodist Church.

A Musical Celebration will be held on Thursday, May 30 at 7 p.m. at the Bartlesville Community Center, featuring many local performers. The community is invited to this free concert.

Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
