2305 | Ashby At Fallbrook, on Thursday, March 13th, William Ashby, aged 51 years. The Lanark Era Lanark, Ontario, Canada 19 Mar 1913, Wed ?W Page 8 Mr. William Ashby A life-long resident of Bathurst, in the vicinity of Fallbrook, was Mr. Wm. Ashby. Death summoned him away last Thursday, March 13th, after an illness with pneumonia. For two years past heart trouble had given him much annoyance, and it was thought by his friends who were closest to him that this affection of the heart would be the cause of death. But, strange to say, it proved altogether otherwise, for the attack of pneumonia developed strongly and quickly proved fatal. Wm. Ashby was born in Bathurst 51 years ago. His occupation waa farming, which he followed with much success. Twenty-eight years ago he married Charlotte Morris. There are six children, all at home - James, William, John, May, Elisabeth and Lottie. Anglican in religious matters and Conservative in politics Mr. Ashby led a consistent and honorable life, true to his church and party. The funeral last Saturday from Fallbrook to Playfair cemetery was largely attended, Rev. T. L. Aborn conducting the services. 2320 | ashes scatterd at the edge of Frank Slide, marker in 152 St. Frank, Alberta also recorded as Frank Slide Memorial Cemetery, Crowsnest Pass, Canmore Census Division, Alberta, Canada This small cemetery was informally established in 1922 with the discovery and burial of six victims of the Frank Slide of 1903. The cemetery was formalized in 1953. Since then two additional persons have had their ashes scattered here. Although their memory is honored here, please note that this cemetery is NOT the burial place for other victims of the Frank Slide. Memorials for the victims whose bodies were never recovered are at https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2663855/the-frank-slide . The Frank Slide On April 29, 1903 a massive landslide fell from the side of Turtle Mountain into the valley below, known as the Frank Slide after the nearby village of Frank. About ninety persons were killed, and only a few bodies were recovered. The memorials recorded here are for those persons whose bodies were never found, and remain beneath the Frank Slide. Information on the victims can be found at the nearby Frank Slide Interpretive Centre. Memorials here do not include six victims whose bodies were discovered in 1922 and were interred in the Frank Slide Memorial Cemetery (ID 2663655). The Frank Cemetery (ID 2603311), which served the village of Frank from 1901 until 1903, was buried beneath the Frank Slide so no victims of the Frank Slide are buried there. | Ennis, Gladys Bell (I23959)
