Scott united in marriage, Mr. Charles H. Dodds, of Elm Creek, Man., son of Mrs. Thomas Doss of Perth, and Miss Margaret Wilson, daughter of Mr. Geo. Wilson. The bride was gowned in cream chiffon trimmed with allover lace and was attended by her sister, Miss Ella whose gown was of cream carbuiere. Mr Norman Miller was best man. A very enjoyable time was spent at the wedding supper and afterwards. The bride received many presents and well wishes from her friends. 2118 | Although in failing health for some years the passing of Robert Gordon Armour came as a shock to his many friends and neighbours and family among whom he was held in high esteem. He was in his 73rd year and passed at the Great War Memorial Hospital on the morning of March 25, 1981. Born August 24, 1908 he was the second oldest son of Mary E. Thompson and Robert Armour who predeceased him in 1943 and 1947 respectively. He attended SS#12 Drummond (McGarry) anad Perth Collegiate Institute. On leaving school he worked at the Bank of Montreal in Perth, Goderich and others for several years. After training in other vocations the wide open space claimed him. He was married to Hilda MacLaren who passed away 1976 in December. Survived by 3 sisters and one brother. Muriel (Mrs. William Rathwell), Perth RR#5; Margaret of Ottawa; Jean (Mrs Clifford Buchanan) of 12 Market St., Smiths Falls and Donald of Perth. A brother Francis predeceased him in 1973 and another brother John S. Murray in infancy. Funeral Services were held at Blair and Son Chapel conducted by Rev. G.M. Richardson paster (sic) of St. Paul's United Church where Gordon was a faithful member. Pallbearers were two nephews, Glenn Rathwell and Dean Buchanan; and neighbours and friends Kenneth J. Barr, Lloyd Van Order, Bill Allan and John Somerville. 2134 | ames George Fraser was born in Coldbrook, Nova Scotia in January 1873, the second child of Alexander and Agnes Ogilvie Fraser. He arrived in Billings Montana in 1885, with his family. He was the founding member of the family firm of A. Fraser & Co., livestock brokers. Fraser was also longtime member and officer of the Maverick Hose Company. He married his longtime sweetheart Alice B. Nickey on September 24, 1898 in Big Timber, Montana. They had five children. James G. Fraser was a successful sheep broker and community leader. He developed cancer and died prematurely on October 24, 1924, leaving the company that he founded to his two surviving brothers. | Fraser, James George (I57610)

2135 | ames Mann was a Steamboat Engineer most of his life and when he lived in Dowagiac, Michigan, he worked as a Waterworks Contractor. He emigrated to the United States between 1880-83. The family was very well off as he sent his daughter, Edna, to Italy for her college education. She taught school in Missoula, Montana and left many notes on her genealogy. After his wife Sarah Ann (Nee Jackson) Mann passed away, he moved out to Torrington, Goshen County, Wyoming to be with his son Ernest. Ernest Jackson Mann is also buried in Valley View Cemetery. His children Edna and Ernest took care of his funeral arrangements. They buried him in Valley View Cemetery as there is no indication that he was brought back to Michigan to be next to his wife, Sarah, at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan. There is an imprint of his birth date on the gravestone, but no death date which indicates that he was buried out west. Edna, his daughter, left notes before she died and stated that her father was buried in Torrington, Wyoming. He and his family were members of the Presbyterian Church. | Mann, James (I14271)

James learned the shoemaker's trade but, believing that America possessed advantages he could not find on the Emerald isle, came to the United States in 1849. He married Maria Charles in New Jersey. She was born near Belfast, Ireland, and came to the United States with her mother about 1849, too. Early in the '50s they arrived in Cedar Rapids, where he followed his trade, accumulating sufficient capital to purchase land in Iowa County. In 1879 they removed to Crawford County and engaged successfully in farming until 1900, when he retired with his wife at Denison. They have been members of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which he was formerly an officer. Politically he gives his support to the republican party. They are the parents of six children: 1. Thomas, who is engaged in the van and moving business at Fargo, North Dakota; 2. Margaret, wed John McLean, a farmer of Liberty, Nebraska; 3. James C., of Denison, Iowa, engaged in ranching in Wyoming; 4. William Clark, a lawyer; 5. Henry C., twin, 6. Willard A., twin. 2137 | AMHERST - Frederick Frank Hunger, 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Amherst Hospital following a one-year battle with Mantle Cell Leukemia. He was Born October 15, 1926 in Lorain, OH, where he was raised graduating from Lorain High School with the class of 1944. Amherst has been his home since 1960. He served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Vulcan and the U.S.S. Rehabath ships as an Electricians Mate receiving the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Fredrick was a master mechanic for the fifty-nine years and used his skills at the Gulf Station at Brownell and West Erie and the Sohio Station at 14th Street and Broadway, both in Lorain, which he owned and operated. He demonstrated his enjoyment of NASCAR Racing and Stock Car Racing by racing a car that he owned with Al Bevan on the old dirt track at the Amherst Speedway. He also enjoyed bowling. A sixty-nine year member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lorain, he served as past Decon. Fredrick was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge #1301, both in Lorain. Survivors include his wife of sixty years Katherine M. (Greer) Hunger, his son Ronald Frank Hunger and his wife Della of Amherst; his grandchildren Heidi Carrillo and her husband Armado of Sugarloaf, CA and Ronnie Hunger of Cottageville,WV; his brothers Tom Hunger and wife Carol of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jack Edward Hunger and his wife Helene of Rocky River, OH, and Charles Hunger and his wife Margaret of Fayettefille, NC; and his sister Marilyn (White) Hunger of Gettysburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents Fredrick Hunger and Florence (Miller) Hunger and his sister Ann (Engel) Hunger. Friends may call Friday, April 10, 2009, from 5-8pm at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland, Ave., Amherst. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard performing honors will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10am from the funeral home. The Rev. Carl Richter, pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Township. Mr. Allan had been in failing health for some time and about two weeks ago suffered a paralytic stroke. He was born in Kingston 81 years ago and after a short residence on Wolfe Island the family came to Balderson. His father William Allan settled on the farm now occupied by Mr. J.A.D. McLean. Deceased was married sixty years ago to Janet Patterson and of the family six are living: Marshall, Ogden, Utah; George, Keewatin; Norman, Idaho; William H., Balderson; Mrs. Breese and Mrs. Stanley, Montpelier, Idaho. Mr. Allan founded a homestead in Drummond it being the farm now occupied by his son William H. Five sisters survive, one sister, Mrs. G. L. Walker, died on June 26 last. Mr. Allan was a man of decided opinions and a staunch Conservative. The funeral took place on Thursday to Elmwood Cemetery and was conducted under the auspices of the Masons.
