a. John McManagle was born in 1776, in Glasgow, and died in 1829, in Dalhousie
Township, and his wife, Elizabeth Blair, was born in 1779, in Barony, Lanarkshire,
Scotland.
Scotland's "Church Registers: Old Parish Registers" documents the Birth of an Elizabeth
Blair, to John Blair and Elizabeth Boyd, 10 December, 1799, in Gorbals. Gorbals was a
suburb of Glasgow at that time.
This evidence does not totally establish that this is the Elizabeth Blair, the wife of John
McManagle, but it seems logical

According to the book The Lanark Society Settlers by Carol Bennett-McCuaig, Robert is the son of George Watt and Jane Campbell.

From the book:
Robert Watt, a son of George Watt Jr and Jane Campbell, was involved in one of Canada's most appalling natural disasters, which took place at Frank, in the Crowsnest area of Alberta in 1903. Robert Watt and a number of other men from Lanark County, Ontario were working there when the tragedy occurred. Companions included James and William Warrington of McDonald's Corners, cousins to each other and possibly connected to Robert Watt, whose brother William was married to Eliza Warrington; Sam Ennis, whose wife Lucy was James Warrington's sister.
During the night of April 28-29 an enormous landslide engulfed the area. Turtle Mountain slid into the valley, depositing thousands of tons of limestome on the coal mining community. At least 76 people died; many others may also have perished. It is said that a large group of newly arrived miners were camping out in tents; all trace of them was lost.
Robert Watt was stable boss at Frank. After checking the horses on that fateful night, he went to bed in the hayloft. He was a widower with six children back in Lanark. He would never see them again. His body was never recovered.

The Village of Middleville has secured a place in the White House in Washington, D.C. Its representative is an old rocking chair, estimated to be about 123 years old, once the property of the late Jean Rankin. The chair was sold by Mrs. Donald Somerville, who resides in the former Rankin home, to the McKendry Antique Shop in Perth. There it was picked up by an antique buyer, who gave it to his friend, Prime Minister Pearson, who was going to visit President John F Kennedy.
