    ?/b?Bernard K. Macklen, 86, of 24530 Macklen Road, died Monday morning in Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he had been a patient since April 11.
    Mr. Macklen operated a dairy farm until retiring in 1983. In spring, he operated a sugarbush on his farm.
    Born March 21, 1921, in Worth, son of Mark M. and Carlotta Kenfield Macklen, he graduated from Adams High School in 1940. Following his graduation he started working on the family farm.
    He married ?b?Leona Stillman ?/b?on Sept. 23, 1945, in Lorraine.
    Mr. Macklen enjoyed woodworking, making snowshoes, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Lorraine United Methodist Church and the Rodman Masonic Lodge, was a councilman on the Worth town board and was town historian. He was the Worth representative to the Tug Hill Council, and the Tug Hill Commission designated him a Tug Hill Sage. He also served on the boards of trustees for the Northern New York Agricultural Historical Society's Stone Mills Museum and the South Jefferson Historical Association. He was a former school trustee for Worth District Schools and a former member of the Lorraine Grange, the Jefferson County Farm Bureau and the Worth Fire Department.
    Mr. Macklen was honored on the WWNY-TV7 series "North Country's Finest" for his expertise in snowshoe construction.
    Surviving besides his wife are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley and Robert Weikel, Lorraine, Mary and Noel Trahan, Rodman, and Joan M. Christini, Arlington, Va.; a sister, Bernice Humphrey, Cape Vincent, four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Baxter, died before him.
    The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. Mary Drake, pastor of the Lorraine United Methodist Church, officiating.
    Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Rodman.
    Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where Rodman Masonic Lodge will conduct a service
    at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

    Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Macklen, Lorraine, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary today. They will celebrate the
    occasion at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lorraine United Methodist Church with their family and friends.
    Mr. Macklen, son of the late Mark and Carlotta Macklen, and Leona ?b?Stillman?/b?, daughter of the late Benjamin and May ?b?Stillman?/b?, were married Sept. 23, 1945, in Lorraine at the home of the bride's parents with the Rev. Cuthbert Frost officiating. The Rev. Mr. Frost officiated at the wedding of the bride's parents 40 years earlier.
    Honor attendants were Bernice Humphrey, sister of the bridegroom, and ?b?Leon Stillman?/b?, twin brother of the bride.
    Mr. and Mrs. Macklen operated a dairy farm in the town of Worth for many years.
    They have three daughters, Shirley Weikel, Worth, Mary Trahan, Rodman, and Joan Cristini, Germany, and four
    grandchildren.
