    VANDEN BOSCH, Jan Peacefully at the Bayfield Manor Nursing Home, Kemptville on Saturday, August 23, 2003 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of late Jean (nee Hossie) Vanden Bosch. Loving father of Stanley (Betty) of Chesterville, Janet Kennedy (Don) of Thomasburg, Dorothy Clark of Vankleek Hill and Barbara Vanden Bosch (friend Les Brost) of Lethbridge, Alberta. Brother of Jack of Guelph, Nies of Balderson, Dick and Eltje of Holland. Survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by son-in-law Bill Clark, brothers Bill and Martin and sister Marie. Resting at the Chesterville Funeral Home, 62 Queen Street, Chesterville where the family will receive friends on Sunday, August 24, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Renewing The Vision Campaign or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

    Farmer Killed Near His Home
    A Bathurst farmer, Thomas R. Hossie, 79, died on Thursday afternoon, after the car which he was driving was struck by a CPR freight train about 2:15, at a level crossing on his farm property on the 3rd line of Bathurst.

    His autao, a 1956 model , was struck by a west-bound freight, and the impact hurled this vehicle about 30 feet into a ditch. Visability was good in both directions. Mr. Hossie was proceeding down a lane to his farm.

    Dr David Craig was summoned to the scene andMr Hossie was rremoved to the GWM Hospital by Blair and Son ambulance, where he passed away two hours later.

    The train crew were engineer George White and conductor Rod McGillis, both of Smiths Falls.

    The accident, the first train-car fatality in the district in several years, was investigated by Cpl. John Hillmer and Constable Martin Brindle of the Provincial Police Detachment at Perth.
