    Hammond, St. Lawrence, New York, as follows: "Rites Held Tuesday For B. Gordon, 50. Prominent Local Farmer Had Been In Failing Health More than a year. Funeral Services for Benjamin J. Gordon, prominent Hammond farmer who passed away Sunday afternoon in Hepburn hospital after a long period of ill health, were very largely attended. The service was held in the local Presbyterian church with the pastor, Rev. W. Halbert Campbell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clyde Joudry, brother-in-law of Mr. Gordon and rector of Trinity Episcopal church in Gouvernuer.
    "Mr. Gordon underwent a major operation last December and never fully recovered from its effects. He returned home, but was unable to be around much since that time and two weeks prior to his death he was removed to the hospital again.
    "He was born April 5, 1895, at South Hammond, a son of Obed H. and the late Eva Cox Gordon. He attended the district schools and was graduated from Redwood High school. He then attended and graduated from the Central City Business school in Syracuse. During World War I, he served with the heavy artillery in France and held the rank of a sergeant major when he was discharged after the war.
    "On Oct. 8, 1924, he married Miss Irene Miller of this place at Ogdensburg, the late Rev. Dr. D. A. Ferguson of Hammond officiating. To this union was [sic] born two children, Anita, a senior in Potsdam State Teachers college, and Douglas, at home. Mr. Gordon is also survived by his wife, his father, O. H. Gordon of this village, and a brother, Royal Gordon, of South Hammond.
    "For several years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Gordon operated the Gordon farm at South Hammnd until in 1937, when they purchased a farm on the Oak Point road. They moved off this farm this spring because of his failing health, and came to reside in the village.
    "Mr. Gordon had served as master of Hammond grange two years, and was a member of the local, Pomona, State and National grange. He had also served as president of the Dairymen's League local and was one of the town assessors for about five years.
    "The bearers at the rites Tuesday were present and former neighbors, Cyril McDougall, Vincent Mead, I. K. Daniels, Karl Storie, Herbert Scott and Harry Howard. Interment was made in Fairview [sic] cemetery."

    Obituary, Irene MacMartin Homemaker. Irene MacMartin, 94, United Helpers Adult Home, formerly of 424 King St., died Sunday in Hepburn Medical Center.
    Mrs. MacMartin was a homemaker, born 18 Feb 1905, in Hammond, daughter of Frank and Inez Smithers Miller, she was a graduate of Hammond High School.
    She married Benjamin Gordon on 8 Oct 1924 in Ogdensburg with the Rev. A. Ferguson officiating. Mr. Gordon died 10 Jun 1945. She married Roy MacMartin on 1 Nov 1956, at the Congregational Church with the Rev. E. Sizeland officiating. Mr. MacMartin died 19 Jan 1972.
    Mrs. MacMartin was a member of the Congregational Church and New York State Grange, and and a life member of Hammond Grange.
    Surviving are a son, Douglas C. Gordon, Hammond, NY; a stepson, Leslie MacMartin, Ogdensburg, NY; a stepdaughter, Shirley Gordon, Hammond NY; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several neices and nephews. Two stepsons, Gerald and Ceral MacMartin, a daughter, Anita DeLeys, a brother, Andrus Miller, and a sister, Hazel Joudry, died before her.
    A graveside service was Thursday morning at Fineview Cemetery, Hammond with the Rev. Walter F. Smith officiating. Arrangements were with Allen-Nichols Funeral Home. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

    His obituary appeared on 31 Oct 1946 in the Hammond Advertiser in Hammond, St. Lawrence, New York, as follows: "Frank Miller, 69, Expires Monday. Had Been in ill Health for a Year, confined to His Bed Past Six Weeks.

    Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2, from his home for Frank Miller, 69, who expired at 4:55 Monday morning, after an illness of several months. The Rev. W. H. Campbell, pastor of the local Presbyterian church officiated.

    "Mr. Miller was born January 3, 1877, in Morristown, a son of the late John and Esther Brown Miller.

    "He was married to the former Miss Inez Smithers of this village, who expired in 1909. On December 24, 1914, he married Miss Tillie Cole, who survives him. The Rev. D. A. Ferguson performed the ceremony.

    "Mr. Miller was employed for several years in the Forrester store, and later in the Ireton and Craig store. The last few years he had been employed at Lewis and Lewis until ill health made it necessary for him to retire.

    "Surviving beside[s] his widow are three children, Mrs. Irene Gordon and Andrus Miller of this village, and Mrs. Robert C. Joudry of Gouverneur, and seven grandchildren.

    "Mr. Miller was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Hammond, and also a member of the local Masonic lodge.
    "Bearers were T. A. Lewis jr., M. J. Harvey, E. E. Lewis, P. C. Smith, Archie Billings, and Charles Derby.
    "Interment was made in Fineview cemetery."

    "Death of Mrs. Frank Miller. The funeral of Mrs. Frank Miller was held Tuesday afternoon from her late home.
    "Last February she had an attack of pleurisy, following the grip [sic]. Pneumonia afterward set in. All these induced tuberculosis of which she died.
    "Eight weeks ago she took to her bed, and gradually failed until the end came.
    "Mrs. Miller, formerly Miss Inez Smithers was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Enos Smithers and was born 31 years ago on the 22nd of June.
    "On May 14, 1901, she was united in marriage to Frank W. Miller. Three little ones were born into the home, all of whom are left for the care of others. These things we can not understand, but we know that we have a Father who is wise and good.
    "Three sisters, Mrs. H. Zoller, Mrs. R. T. Dodds and Miss Bessie Smither, and one brother, Andrus Smithers, remain, together with her husband to cherish her memory.
