Mrs. H. H. Walker Died Last Evening

Mrs. H. H. Walker died at her home in this city at seven o'clock last evening, after a two months' illness. Pneumonia was the direct cause of her death. Mrs. Walker suffered for many days before death came to relieve her. All that could possibly be done to save her life availed nothing. She was the wife of H. H. Walker, clerk at the Roudebush grocery store. At the time of going to press funeral arrangements have not been completed. We will have the obituary next week. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, December 11, 1918)

Obituary of Mrs. H. H. Walker
A Good Mother Called to final Reward ? Leaves a Husband and Two Children

One of the saddest deaths in the history of this city occurred on Tuesday evening of last week when Mrs. H. H. Walker was called to her reward. Besides her husband she leaves two small children who will miss a mother's love and care for the rest of their lives. Mrs. Walker was one of the popular ladies of the community, admired and respected by her neighbors and friends. She was born in Waterbury, South Dakota, in October 1886, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Gerberich. Six years ago she was united in marriage to H. H. Walker and to this union two children, Harold and Alice, were born. Her death was the result of pneumonia following an attack of influenza and its complications. For six weeks she struggled to live, but the Master willed otherwise, and she departed this life on Tuesday evening of last week. Besides the immediate family she is survived by her parents, one brother, Maurice Gerberich, of Alexander, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Cox, of this city, and Mrs. Florence Atwood, of St. Paul. The sorrowing relatives here have the sympathy of the entire community in their hour of sorrow. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, December 18, 1918)

    Mrs. H. H. Walker
On account of a break down in the machinery in the Enterprise last week there were many articles omitted. Among them was the obituary of Mrs. Grace M. Walker, wife of H. H. Walker of this city. Mrs. Walker became afflicted with the Flu which was followed with pneumonia. She was ill for many weeks before death came and during that time suffered greatly. Mrs. Walker spent her childhood days in this city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Gerberich. She was born in Waterbury, S. Dak., in October 1886 and came to this city when about twelve years of age. She received her education in our schools and with her sister, Mable, now Mrs. Jesse Cox, spent some time at Drake University, Des Moines. In 1903 [March 30, 1904] she was united in marriage to Orsan Isham who had also grown to manhood in this city. To this union there was one son born who was residing with the mother at the time of her death. About six years ago she was united in marriage to H. H. Walker and about three years ago the family moved to this city to reside. There was born to this union a daughter, Alice, who is now four years old.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband and two children, father and mother, two sisters and a brother. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 25. 1918)

    Children:
    1. 5. Alice Margaret Walker was born on 15 Apr 1914 in Cando, North Dakota, United States; died on 8 Mar 1980 in Mobile, Alabama, United States; was buried in Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama, United States.
