Tayside Farm was the home of my grandmother Mary Eliza Dodds who came here from the Scotch Line as a young girl. My great grandfather Ralph Dodds purchased the east part of lot 20 concession 2 in Bathurst from Captain Josuah Adams in the 1850's. The current board and batten framed structure was built in 1859. It is reported that my grandmother's sister Lily Dodds was carried into the house as a baby. The present boundaries of the farm include that portion of the above lot extending from the second line to South street in the village of Glen Tay comprising some 47 acres. It also includes those parts of lots 21 and 22 lying between the Tay river and the second concession of Bathurst with some forty acres of marsh land in Grants Creek.

John married Mary Evelyn "Ev" Mather on 9 Jun 1945 in St. Paul's United Church, Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Mary (daughter of John Cumming Mather and Isobella Elsie Ashby) was born on 9 Sep 1922 in Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 5 Mar 2010 in Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 12 Mar 2010 in Elmwood Cemetery, Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. MILLER, M. Evelyn (Mather) At Lanark Lodge, Perth on Friday, March 5th, 2010. Mary Evelyn Miller (former co-owner of Tayside Farms, Perth, Ontario) at the age of 87 years. Predeceased in 1997 by her beloved husband J.R. Ernest Miller. Loved mother of Diane Duncan (Don), Nancy Miller Chenier (John), John H. (Karen) Miller and Ruth Miller-Baker (Ken). Cherished grandmother of Scott and David (Lisa), Natalia and Nicole (Christopher Hogan) and their children Brendan, Anastasia and Cameren, Christopher (Cherith Hyndman) and Melissa (Gonzalo Gutirrez), Jim and Brian Baker and the late Heather Duncan. Dear sister of Harry (late Marion) Mather, Gordon (Jean) Mather and the late John (Ivy) Mather, sister-in-law of Irma (late Harold) Knight and the late Irene (Gilbert) Selland. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Thursday, March 11th, 2010 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Friday at 10:30 A.M. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. In remebrance, contributions to St.Andrew's Presbyterian Church or the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
