Birth:
later family documents lead me to believe that his origins may have been Irish, possibly a worker in a mill in Scotland when he qualified for passage to Canada.
He is shown as having a wife and two sons, one over the age of 12 and the other under the age of 12 when he travelled to Canada. This would suggest that he would be in his thirties at the time of emigration placing his date of birth before 1790.
