    NEWELL Allan Patrick (Pat), passed away peacefully on July 12, 1997 at Royal Jubilee Hospital, at the age of 83 years. He leaves his wife, Margaret (Peggy); his son, Eric (Kathy) of Fort McMurray; his daughter, Margaret (Tom) Lidkea of Victona; and Kathy of Williams Lake, B.C.; six grandchildren: Brian, Colleen and Erin Newell; Meghan, Heather and Christina Lidkea, He is also survived by several sisters and brothers: Lillian (Newell) and Chuck Bennett, Patricia Newell, Mamie (Newell) Barnes, Muriel Newell Marguerite (Newell) Arney, Lyall and Mickey Newell, Iris (Newell) Peters; 31 special nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends. Born on St. Patrick Day, 1914 In Calgary and raised in Victoria, Pat worked for the Royal Bank of Canada for 45 years and served in the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. He is the First Lifetime Member of the Victoria and District Baseball Association.

    Pat will be lovingly remembered as a kind, gentle husband, father and friend with an irrepressible sense of humor. He never refused to help anyone and asked so little for himself. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 2:00 PM at St. Alban's Anglican Church, 1468 Ryan Street, Victoria, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

    NEWELL, Margaret May (Peggy) May 18, 1911 August 3, 2006 Peggy died peacefully at her home at Parkwood Court, Victoria. After 95 years of a good life, she has joined her loving husband of 56 years, Allan Patrick Newell. She leaves behind a son, Eric (Kathy) Newell and two daughters, Margaret (Tom) Lidkea and Kathy Newell. She also leaves six grandchildren, Brian (Erika) Newell, Colleen (Mark) Stratton, Erin (Mike) Lupien, Meghan, Heather and Nina Lidkea; and six greatgrandchildren, Mary and Shannon Newell, Caitlin and Kerri Stratton, Emily and Madeleine Lupien. Peggy will also be missed by her devoted friend of 56 years, Evelyn Bloomfield. Our family is grateful for the wonderful care given to our Mother by the staff at Parkwood Court. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Alban's Church, 1468 Ryan Street, Victoria on Saturday, August 12 at 2:00 p.m. A donation to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

    NEWELL WILSON

    A wedding of much interest both in Vancouver and Nanaimo was the marriage of Margaret Mae, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson, 697 Wentworth street, Nanaimo, to Allan Patrick, son of Mr and Mrs. F. S. Newell, of Victoria, B. which took place in St, Helen's Anglican Church, Vancouver, Dr. H. R.Trumpour reading the vows, Friday evening, June 6, at 8 p.m.

    The bride was radiant in a simple white silk jersey gown cut on Grecian lines, a shoulder veil of white silk net frothing from a tiny flowered hat, carrying a bouquet of Johanna Hill roses, swainsonia and orchids.

    Miss Audrie Benson of Nanaimo was bridesmaid, gowned in a frock of baby blue chiffon, with pale pink ruffled ribbon hat, trimmed with pink sweet peas, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and sweetpeas. Mr. Eric Newell of Victoria, a brother of the groom, was the best man. Ushers were Messrs. Ken White, Wilf Auld and Bob Taylor. During the signing of the register, Mr. J. Smith sang "Only for You."

    At the reception held at the home of Mr, Bond, 4274 fourth avenue Mrs. Charles Wilson, attired in royal blue silk crepe, with white accessories and corsage of gardenias, and Mrs. F. S. Newell in dusky rose sheer with navy accessories, and gardenia corsage, greeted the guests. Serviteurs were Mrs. Wilf Auld, and Misses Marie Scanlon, Kay Wallace and Margaret Ferguson.

    The toast to the bride was proposed by Mr. Lyle Barr, and suitably responded to by the groom. For travelling, the bride donned a rose-pink crepe dress beneath a beige camel hair coat trimmed with fox fur, with biege and brown accessories.

    Out of town guests, were Mr. and Mrs. Bolton, Chilliwack; Mr, and Mrs. G. F. Wilson, Nanaimo; Mrs. Charles Wilson, Nanaimo; Miss Margaret Addison, Nanaimo, and Miss Miriam Newell, Victoria.

    Mr. and Mrs. Newell will reside in Vancouver.
