"Dick," as he was called by all his friends and neighbors, was a kind, good neighbor, ever ready to help those in need and ever ready to do a neighborly act of kindness.

For many years he cared for his aged parents, sometimes in his own home and at other times driving for miles to minister to their needs.

He was an industrious farmer, and gave up work only when compelled to on account of physical weakness.

In his last days of suffering, which covered more than a year, he was cared for by his faithful and loving wife and daughter. Day after day and week after week have they watched beside that bed of pain and done all that kind hands and loving hearts could do to relieve his suffering.
