Sergeant - Died, at North Sherbrooke on the 11th Dec., after a severe illness, Mr. John Sergeant, in the 43rd year of his age. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn their loss.

John was born in North Sherbrooke Township, Lanark County, the son of Robert Sergeant and Sophia Calvert. On July 20,1860, he was married to Deborah Rutherford. They had a family of 9 children :

Died:
Sophia was born in Ireland in 1804, the daughter of William Calvert. She was married to Robert Sargeant (Siergison) and they settled in North Shebrooke Township, Lanark County, Ontario. Robert remarried after Sophia's death. He died in 1897 and is buried with his 2nd wife, Sarah McFarland, in St. Paul's Anglican Church cemetery at Zealand, Frontenac County, Ontario. Sophia and Robert had a family of six :
