    Michael K Jennings retired US Army LTC, age 59, passed away on Wednesday December 17 2003 at his home In Sprague Wash following a lengthy Illness. Michael the son of Forest 'Pat' and Eileen V Jennings was born June 24 1944 In Livermore Cal His family moved to Sprague Wash Mike graduated from Sprague High School In 1962. He then attended Eastern Washington University where he became a member of their Army ROTC Program Upon graduation In 1957 he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. He entered active duty In November of 1967 and served 22 years retiring In August of 1989 as Lieutenant Colonel.

    He returned to Sprague and on June 26 1993 married Ann Rochelle Roberts. They have lived 10 great years together He was a lifetime member of the Sprague Gun Club and while living In the Olympia area was a member of the VFW.

    Surviving are his wife Ann at the family home his mother Eileen Covell of Cheney; a daughter Brooke Lynch of Post Falls ID; a brother Kelly Jennings of Cheney; and a sister Kim Rieken of Spokane; granddaughter Mya Lynch of Post Falls and 3 children from a previous marriage; Brad, Brett, JaAnna Jennings and a granddaughter Chantel Jennings.

    A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Tuesday December 30 2003 at 11 am at St John's Lutheran Church In Sprague Pastor Mary Daniels officiating. The family suggest memorial contributions be made In Mike's name to either Central Basin Hospice at 311 W Third Moses Lake Wash 98837 or St John's Lutheran Church Sprague Wash 99032

    Miss Ferrell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Joseph Ferrell, N1003 Pines Road, and Mr. Jennings is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Forest E. Jennings, Sprague, Wash.

    The brideelect was graduated, from Central Valley High School and Eastern Washington College. Her fiance was graduated from Sprague High School. and will be graduated this summer from Eastern Washington State College. He will receive his commission as a second lieutenant upon graduation. The couple will report to Foal Aberdeen, Md., in October after an extended wedding trip.

    E. U. GARTEN. GARFIELD, Wash., March 15.
    Masonic funeral services for E. U. Garten, 69, former city councilman and manager of the Standard Lumber company here, were held in the Presbyterian church today, the Rev. C. M. Herford officiating. Mr. Garten, born in Illinois, was married in Nebraska in 1889, went to Moscow, Idaho, in 1903, and moved here in 1909. He went to Portland in 1928, following the death of his wife. He died there March 12.

    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. P. F. Campbell, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. W. K. Farthing, Waterville, Wash., and H. W. Garten, Mansfield. Wash.; a brother and two sisters. Burial was in the Garfield cemetery.
