Thomas was born in Scotland about 1808. He was married to Mary Love, daughter of Robert Love and Deborah Donnahue. They were living at Lot 4, Con 1, of North Sherbrooke Township, Lanark County, Ontario. Robert died April 15,1850 at the age of 42, leaving his wife with 5 young children.
