Derrick Carl Shangraw, late of Weyburn, SK passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the age of 45 years. Derrick was predeceased by infant brother, Tory Shangraw; brother, Chris Shangraw; his mother, "Peggy " Margaret Shangraw; grandfather, William Rudsdale; grandmother, Mildred Rudsdale; grandfather, Stan Shangraw; grandmother, Kathleen Shangraw; cousin Alex Lepine; aunt Linda Thomas.

Derrick is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Shangraw and her boyfriend Chris Unrau; his father, Carl Shangraw; his sister Trudy Shangraw (David); niece, Cassandra Shangraw (Jordan); nephew, Byron Shangraw (Denni) and best friend Elizabeth Frederick.

Derrick was born July 9, 1965 in Kingston, ON to Carl and Margaret Shangraw. At the age of 3 years his family moved to Weyburn, SK where Derrick
resided most of his life. Derrick's greatest joy in life was the day his daughter Jacqueline was born , he was such a proud father then and the days that followed. He was so proud of her the day she graduated high school and his last dreams for her is the hopes that she will live her dream to become an LPN.

Growing up Derrick's greatest passion was his love for hockey. It didn't matter to him if it was rec hockey, street hockey or league hockey, mention the word and he was there to be your goalie. As he was growing up he found the love of cooking and baking and he was always ready to show you something new.

During the times of recuperating from his lung surgeries he came to love watching Nascar racing and later on started his own collection of Dale Earnhardt Senior and Junior along with Denny Hamlin items.

A service of remembrance for Derrick was held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Harley Porter, officiating.
