More focused on sports and gifted with athletic ability, Ray was not very interested in school. Even so, he did complete his Grade 12 at Northern Vocational School between "tutoring" engagements at Mt. Pleasant Billiards and Talbot Ballpark - Toronto.

A hustling centre fielder in the 50's until an injury cut short his career with the Detroit Tigers. Always a team player with tremendous focus and drive. He used these abilities in daily life even after his playing days ended.

Married Islay Macdonald in 1958 and lived in a complex of small apartment buildings owned by his Father "Booth Bromley" located on Davisville Ave. across from Mount Pleasant Park - Toronto. Started his Insurance career.

Fathered Mike, Steve, Pete, and Joanne. Moved to Ancaster, Ontario in 1965. Practically lived at the Ballpark, Spring Valley Arena, and Optimist Club. Umpired, Refereed, as well as Coached & Managed many winning Baseball and Hockey teams.

Settled in Ajax, Ontario in 1975 and, following the amputation of his right leg below the knee, founded "THE INSURANCE MARKET" Insurance Brokers Ltd. in 1981. Starting from his living room, he built the Company to a volume of several millions over the next 14 years.

In Ray's last spring training season he saw Steve's youngest son "Little Ray" play hardball with major league potential.

Five years after Ray's passing, Mike named his only son "Tyrus Raymond Bromley" after the greatest Ballplayer of all time - Tyrus Raymond Cobb. Let's hope he likes Baseball and who knows....

Ray loved his Wife, Baseball, being Santa Claus, Baseball, TSN, Baseball, his Kids, Baseball, Card Games, Baseball, Fishing, & Baseball (not necessarily in this order).

Ray went fishing in his Field of Dreams on June 5th, 1995.

Raymond married Islay Mary MacDonald. Islay (daughter of Stewart Alexander MacDonald and Edith Mary Brennand) was born on 27 Aug 1936 in Toronto (York), Toronto Municipality, Ontario, Canada; died on 29 Aug 2010 in Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

On Wednesday afternoon at the residence of the bride'a parents, Mr and Mrs Alex Gow, Waterloo street, Mount Forest, their youngest daughter Mary Stewart was married to Mr Evan Thomas McDonald of Owen Sound and formerly of Mount Forest. Rev W.G. Hanna of Westminister church assisted by Rev. Geo. Hendell, of Conn, performed the ceremony.

While her niece Miss Hilda Pennock played Mendelssohn's wedding march, the bride was led in on the arm of her father and looked sweet and winsome in her gown ot 'cream eolienne over cream silk, trimmed with point lace and carrying a bouquet of cream.

Her travelling dress wss of bronze chiffon broadcloth with hat to match of bronze velvet with mink and fruit trimmings. Miss Gertrude King sang the wedding hymn.

Afterwants the party of about forty guests, relatives and intimate friends of the parties, sat down to a recherche wedding dinner, the decorations being a color scheme of white and green, with carnations and sinilax.

The happy couple took the evening train for a trip to Toronto, Hamilton, and Niagara. Both Mr. and Mrs. McDonald are well known and popular here. The bride is one of our sweetest vocalists, and has ever been willing to use her talents in aid of any good cause. She was the recipient of a large number of handtome presents among which was a very fine china cabinet, suitably inscribed, from Westminister church, of the choir of which she was a leading member and a Bible from the Sabbath School in which she had been a teacher for a number of years, also gifts of silver, cut glass, and china from friends. The best wishes of the numerous friends of both bride and groom for their future happiness and prosperity follow them to their future I home in Owen Sound.
