    Mr. George Smith, an old and respected resident of Leitrim, Ont., died on Tuesday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. N. Gooding, 88 Aylmer Avenue. Deceased, who was in his 70th year, had been ill for several weeks.

    Mr. Smith was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, coming to Canada when he was a child and residing at Leitrim ever since. In religion he was a Presbyterian and attended the Billings' Bridge church at that denomination.

    Besides his widow he leaves three sons and three daughters---Messrs. Alexander and Stewart Smith of Ottawa South, James Smith of Maple Creek, Sask.; Mrs. J. J. Heron of Billings' Bridge, Mrs. N. Gooding of Ottawa South and Miss Ella May Smith at home. Two sisters are Mrs. William McCann of Billings' Bridge and Mrs. Jaffray of Victoria, B.C. Dr. Gordon Henderson of Ottawa and Mr. Stuart Henderson of Victoria, B.C., are nephews.

    The funeral took place this afternoon from the family residence at Leitrim to Johnston's cemetery.

    George married Christina Moodie.     The funeral of Mrs. Christina Smith, whose death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nat Gooding, 88 Aylmer avenue, on Sunday, was held from there yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Smith was in her 85th year.

    Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Johnston, moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and minister of Knox church conducted an impressive service at the house assisted by Rev. J. Logan-Venecta, minister of St. Giles Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Johnson's Corners' cemetery.

    Mrs. Smith, who was formerly Miss Christina Moodie, was born at the Scotch Line, Perth, and lived the greater part of her life at Leitrim. She was the widow of George Smith.

    Chief mourners were two daughters, Mrs. J. J. Heron, of Billings' Bridge, and Mrs. Nat Gooding, of Ottawa; two sons, Alex Smith, of Ottawa and James Smith, of Maple Creek, Sask.; one brother, David Moodie, of Manotick, two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Hawkins, of Manotick and Mrs. Elizabeth Nixon, of Carsonby. One son, Stewart Smith, predeceased her last July
