    Obituary
McKinley - Dr. John McKinley, of Shawville, was found dead in his residence about 12 o'clock on Sunday night, April 1st. The death caused considerable excitement and regret in the town where the popular physician had been a resident for years. Dr. McKinley had been in poor health for a few days but his condition was not believed to be serious. He got out of bed about midnight on Sunday and went down to his office which is in another part of the house. A neighbour who was lying down on a couch in an adjoining room had fallen asleep a few minutes only when he was aroused by a noise which appeared to him like the fall of a bottle, followed by a groan. When he had discovered the cause he at once awakened the family and secured medical aid. Two doctors were soon on the scene but could do nothing to resuscitate their fellow practitioner, Dr. McKinley. The indications were that deceased had died of apoplexy. it may be stated that in the closet in back of where Dr. McKinley was lying was found a large botttle which had been broken and some of the contents had been spilt over his clothing. There was also a mark where he had struck his forehead on the bottle. Further investigation showed that this bottle contained I--tated pepsin a ------ preparation. Coroner Hardman of Bryson was summoned and after some misunderstanding and waiting ruled out foul pllay which proved groundless in fact an inquest was held and death was found to have been caused by apoplexy. A clot of blood was discovered in the brain of deceased.

The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon last. Deceased was 54 years of age and was born on the Scotch Line, son of the late A -a-n McKinley. He was a student of the district schools here and took a brilliant cours in McGill, graduated, M.D. with three other Perth men ----ace deceased. He had live in Pontiac County for many years. M. Peter McKinley, brother, and two sisters, Miss Mickinley Ke----, and Mrs. John Smith, Durbam, survive. Deceased was married and his widow and two sons are left to mourn his loss.
