The community suffered a severe loss in the death at the Armour homesteaad, township of North Burgess, sunday morning, August 23, of Andrew Armour, one of its oldest and most respected citizens, son of the late John Armour, native of Linwood, Renfrewshire, Scotland and the late Mary McFarlane of Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

The late Mre. Armour was born on November 25th, 1852 on the farm on which he lived ...late. He was a Presbyterian, being a member of St. Andrew's Church, Perth, and a staunch Liberal.

Deceased is survived by his widow, three daughters and one son Mrs. J H MacLennan, Saskatoon, Sask., the Misses Marjorie and Margaret, at home, and Dr. John of the surgical staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital and McGill University, Montreal, one sister Miss Beatrice Armour, and one brother Mr. James Armour, both of Perth, three sisteres, Martha, Mary and Margaret and three brothers, John, Robert and Ephraim having predeceased him some years previous.

The funeral was held on August 26th at 2pm privately from his late residence to Elmwood Cemetery, Perth. Service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. Samuel Davies, Westminster Church, Smiths Falls in the absence of Rev. Dr. Bunyan McLeod. The pallbearers were the Armour nephews of deceased. The honorary pallbearers were Messrs J Cuthbertson, W Findlay, D McLean, WW Walker, HA O'Donnell, Dr AW Dwyre, Dr JO Allan and Lt Col JA Hope.

Andrew married Mary Donalda Campbell in 1889. Mary (daughter of Donald John "John" Campbell and Mary McIntyre) was born on 25 Jul 1865 in Drummond Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 28 Mar 1939 in Burgess North Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. TThe community suffered a severe loss in the death at the Armour homestead on March 28, 1939, of Mary Donalda Campbell, widow of the late Andrew Armour and daugher of the late Donald John Campbell and his wife, the late Mary McIntyre, Drummond township. The late Mrs Armour was born July 25, 1864, on the seventh line of Drummond. she was a Presbyterian, being a member of St. Andrew's Church, Perth, and a talented musician.

Deceased is survived by one son and three daughters, Dr. John Armour, of the surgical staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital and McGill University, Montreal; Mary, Mrs J.H. MacLennan, Saskatoon, Sask; and the Misses Marjorie C.C. and Margaret D. at home. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Carol Donalda and John Andrew, one sister, Miss Marjory C. Campbell, and one brother, Mr. P.M. Campbell, both of Perth. She was predeceased by one son, one sister and two brothers.

The funeral was held on April 1st. A private service was conducted in her home by her pastor, Rev. H.A. Perliz, followed by a service in St. Andrew's Church, Perth, thence to Elmwood Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Dr. E.H. Wilson, Messrs. H.A. O'Donnell, Walter McIntyre, William Findlay, Alex. McIntyre, and Robert McPhail. Those from a distance at the funeral were Mrs. MacLennan, Saskatoon, Mr and Mrs F.A. Whittall, Mr and Mrs Long, Mrs Leslie Millen, Mrs Boyd Millen and Mr A. McLachlan, Montreal, and Mr Findlay, Carleton Place.

The many messages of sympathy and beaurtiful floral tributes testified lto the esteem in which the late Mrs. Armour was held.

Mrs. D. J. Campbell. The long life of Mrs. Donald J. Campbell, of Drummond, came to a close on Friday morning last, when she passed away in her eightieth year. Deceased had been bedridden for over twenty years, and this great affliction was born with Christian fortitude until the last. Mrs. Campbell, whose maiden name was Mary McIntyre, was sister of the late Messers. Hugh and Donald McIntyre, of Balderson, and of Mrs. Jas. Gould of Drummond, who is now the only surviving member of the family. She was born in the district of Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, and came with her parents to the Balderson settlement when very young. Here children were: John D. (deceased); Peter M. and Margery, on the homestead; Margaret (Mrs. Chas. McLenaghan), Perth, and Mrs, Andrew Armour, North Burgess. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, and she was buried in the Campbell cemetery, Drummond, Rev. J. S. McIlraith, conducting the funeral services."

John Armour Sr. was a member of the "Paisley Townhead Emigration Society" that came to Canada on the ship "Earl of Buckinghamshire" in 1821 and settled on West half of Lot 2 Concession 2 Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario. He was still farming on the same lot in 1834. On 5 July 1837, John Armour Sr. received Crown Patent on West half Lot 2 Concession 2 Dalhousie Twp, 100 Acres. On 27 December 1858, John Armour and wife sold the lot to Samuel Boulton for $100.00.
He arrived with a wife [Martha Scott] age 42, son John born about 1813 and a daughter [Beatrice] under the age of 12 years.
