John Miller, co-owner of Tayside Farms near Perth, Ontario, passed away suddenly at his Kincardine cottage on Friday May 2nd, 2014.

He was a leader in the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, Lennox and Addington Insurance and many agricultural organizations. John was partner and best friend to Karen (Middleton) Miller, beloved father to Christopher (Cherith Hyndman) and Melissa (Gonzalo Gutierrez). Cherished grandpa to Lucia and Cecilia. He will be sadly missed by family Diane Duncan (Don), Nancy Miller Chenier (John), Ruth Miller Baker, Bobbie Law (Gordon), Jim Middleton (Crystal Cannon), Bruce Middleton (Debbie), Elizabeth Porath and Christine Zacodnik (Allan). He leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends with fond memories. John was predeceased by his parents J.R. Ernest Miller and Evelyn Miller.

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth, on Tuesday May 6th, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel Wednesday at 10:30 am. In rememberance, contributions to the Diabetic Society, Ottawa Heart Institute or the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

Karen passed away in the Perth hospital on Wednesday, August 12th, 2020 surrounded by her family at the age of 73 years. She was predeceased by her partner and best friend John Miller. Karen was the beloved mother to Chris and Melissa (Gonzalo Gutierrez) and cherished nana to Lucia and Cecilia. She will be sadly missed by family Bobbi Law (Gordon), Jim Middleton (Crystal Cannon), Bruce Middleton (Debbie), Elizabeth Porath (late Ron), Christine Zackodnik (Allan), Diane Duncan (Don), Nancy Miller Chenier (John), and Ruth Miller-Baker (John Brining). Karen leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends with fond memories. Karen was predeceased by her parents Bob and Jean (Grieve) Middleton and John's parents J.R. Ernest and Evelyn Miller.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the service and interment will be held privately for the family. Tayside Farm was the home of my grandmother Mary Eliza Dodds who came here from the Scotch Line as a young girl. My great grandfather Ralph Dodds purchased the east part of lot 20 concession 2 in Bathurst from Captain Josuah Adams in the 1850's. The current board and batten framed structure was built in 1859. It is reported that my grandmother's sister Lily Dodds was carried into the house as a baby. The present boundaries of the farm include that portion of the above lot extending from the second line to South street in the village of Glen Tay comprising some 47 acres. It also includes those parts of lots 21 and 22 lying between the Tay river and the second concession of Bathurst with some forty acres of marsh land in Grants Creek.
