MRS. L. B. RENFREW REMEMBERED IN ADAMS
Former Prominent Resident Here Dead in Florida
Mrs. Marjorie fSpaulding) Renfrew, whose death occurred Dec, 4 at her home in St. Petersburg, Fla., was the daughter of Adams' first superintendent of schools and the widow of one of its industrial leaders of a generation ago, L, Brown Renfrew.

Mrs. Renfrew succumbed two hours after a sudden attack. Her funeral took place in St. Petersburg on Dec, 7. Burial will be in Haverhill in the spring.

She was born in Adams in 1873 a daughter of the late Mr., and Mrs. W. W. Spaulding, Early in her life, the family moved to Haverhill where her father, leaving the educational field, entered the shoe manufacturing business and for years operated one of the largest shoe factories in this state. Mrs. Renfrew was educated at Wellesley college and studied piano at private schools in Boston, becoming an accomplished pianist.

Only recently she returned from a six months trip to Europe, bringing, home many memontoes which she planned to sell, using the resulting fund to establish scholarships for Wellesley.

She married Mr; Renfrew in 1896 at Haverhill and they returned to Adams where her husband continued his duties with the Renfrew company. Older Adams residents will recall that the central portion of the present Greylock Rest was erected by the elder Mr. Renfrew , who occupied the place until his death in the early 1900's. His son built for his home the fine residence at the entrance to the Greylock Rest property now known as the Bishop's house which was maintained for several years by the late Most Rev. Thomas M. O'Leary, bishop of the Spring-field diocese, as a summer home. Mr. and Mrs. Renfrew, resided there until 1920 when they moved to Florida because of Mr Renfrew's ill health. He died there in 1935.

Mrs. Renfrew, active for many years in the religious, social and civic life of St. Petersburg, was a member of the United Liberal church, the Wellesley college group, the Paderewski club and for several years served on the board of governors of St. Peters burg Junior college.
