    The marriage of Gweneth Gale, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Spencer and the late Mr. Albert Spencer of Ottawa to Vernon Finlay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter MacLean of Murray River, P.E.I., took place Saturday, June 29, 1963, 11.00 a.m. in St. Luke's Anglican Church. Rev. P. S. Irwin performed the double ring ceremony. Mr. L. Foss was organist and Mr. George Montgomery soloist. Given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Albert Spencer, the bride wore a floor-length gown of peau de soie having a short train. The fitted bodice was topped with a sweetheart neckline and had long lily point sleeves. A tiara of pearls held her bouffant veil. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses. The maid of honor, Miss Carole O'Heare wore a street length yellow taffeta dress, with matching headdress of yellow taffeta flowers. She carried a bouquet of yellow and white shasta daisies. Miss Gail O'Heare, bridesmaid, Miss Brenda Bradley, junior bridesmaid, and Miss Darlene Brown, flower girl, wore identical street-length dresses of yellow and aqua taffeta with matching headdresses of yellow and aqua flowers. They carried yellow and white shasta daisies. The ring bearer was Master Billy Bradley, the train bearer, Master Gregory Spencer, both nephews of the bride. Mr. Cyril MacLean was best man; ushers, Mr. Dale Jackson and Mr. Bud Bradley. The altar was decorated with yellow and white gladioli. A wedding trip through the Great Lakes followed a reception at the Standish Hall. For travelling the bride wore a yellow linen suit with matching yellow hat, and white accessories. Mr. and Mrs. MacLean will reside in Ottawa.

    Suddenly, in hospital, Thursday, March 1, 1962. Albert (Ab) Spencer, beloved husband of Catherine Dodds. 51 Cambridge St., in his 61st year. Father of Albert, Mrs. Warner (Velma), Bradley and Gwen of Ottawa; brother of Mrs Frank Ayotte, Mrs Conrad Wingess and Miss Jeanette, of Ottawa and Mrs Warson Knops of Rochester New York. Resting at Hulse and Playfair Ltd, Central Chapel, 315 McLeod St. Service Saturday 11 am Interment Capital Memorial Gardens.

    Harry H. Spencer Former District Fire Chief Dies

    A former district chief with this Ottawa Fire Department and a verteran of World War I, Harry H. Spencer died in hospital Sunday. He was 61.

    Mr. Spencer, who was born in Montreal, came to Ottawa in 1908. He attended schools here and in 1919 jointed the Ottawa Fire Department.

    In 1959 he retired as district fire chief and joined the Corps of Commissioners. During World War I he saw service overseas with the 38th Battalion.

    Mr. Spencer was a member of St. Barnabas Church.

    His parents were Harry H. Spencer, who survives, and the late Kate Elizabeth Smith.

    Surviving besides his father, are four sisters, Mrs Warren Knote, Rochester, NY, Mrs Frank Ayotte, Noranda, Que.; Mrs Connie Ginges and Miss Janet Spencer, both of Ottawa.

    The body is at the Hulse and Playfair funeral home, 315 McLeod street, where the funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 pm, Rev J.M. Cornish officiating.

    Interment will be in Pinecrest cemetery.

    Peacefully in hospital on Tuesday, November 26, 1991, in her 87th year, Catherine Alice Spencer (nee Dodds). Beloved wife of the late Albert J. Spencer. Loving mother of Albert (Paula<), Belva Somers-Neal (Guy) and Gwen MacLean (Vern). Dear grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister Rita Gregg of Smiths Falls. Friends may call at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playflair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St. on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Service in the Chapel on Friday at 11 am. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens.
