    Died:
    When he died, he left extensive property in Port Glasgow, particularly the lands and villa of Highholm, but also other properties in the town. The former of these were left by entail, devolving on his son James. The rest were placed in the lands of trustees for the benefit of his other issue.

    James married Margaret Paton on 17 Jul 1819 in Port Glasgow Parish, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Margaret (daughter of James Paton and Janet Cuthbertson) was born on 31 Aug 1797 in Middle Church, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland; died on 4 Oct 1861 in Port Glasgow Parish, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
