    In May 1924, Dr. Harry E. Bard, a former school superintendent in the Philippines, was chosen Ridgefield's superintendent. He remained superintendent till only 1928, but never lost his love of Ridgefield. He kept his homestead here and on Sept. 6, 2006, a Town Meeting accepted the donation of 17 acres of parkland off Hickory Lane from the Bard family. Dr. Bard had bought the land in 1915. The Ridgefield Library index of Ridgefield Press obituaries does not record his death, but it may be in the newspaper nonetheless. He is buried with his wife, Isabel.
