CODE, Arthur Douglas 'Art' Former Reeve of Drummond/North Elmsley Township, Fire Chief of Lanark Fire Department for 22 years, Past President and long time board member of Lanark Mutual Insurance Company.

Art passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 31st, 2010 at Almonte, Ontario, at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased in October, 2002 by his beloved wife of 52 years Joyce G. (White) and in 1979 by his son Douglas James Code.

Dear brother of Shirley (George 'Dick') Warr of Havelock. Art will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Dawna Code of Carp, sisters-in-law Joan Skaug and Ruth James, his nieces, nephews, all his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Calvin and Violet Code and in infancy, twin brother Stanley. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Thursday, November 4th, 2010 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church, Lanark on Friday at 10:30 A.M. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.

Obituary - Archibald Foster
The eighth line and surrounding district were shocked and sadden by the sudden death which occurred on Saturday, April 9th, of one of its loved and most popular residents, Archibald Foster. He was the son of the late James Foster and Eliza Ann Morris.

The late Archibald Foster was born on April12th, 1873, on the tenth line of Bathurst. His early life being shanty work and river driving.

In 1897 he was married to the late Francis Gibson who predeceased him ten years ago. After his marriage they lived at Fallbrook for some time later moving to the eleventh line and was occupied by farming. Later, moving to the eighth line where he lived until his death.

To them were born six daughters and four sons, Nellie, Mrs Robert Innes, Fallbrook;Jessie, Mrs Charles Smith, New York; Violet, Mrs. Calvin Code, Innisville; Sadie, Mrs. William Mather, Balderson; Fanny, Mrs. Harold Blair, Brooke; Gertrude, Mrs Oscar Skaug, Brooke; James, Watsons Corners; David, Bathurst; Charles, Bathurst; and Joseph Foster survives in Carrott River, Sask. Other deceased members of the family two sisters and three brothers, Annie, Mrs. Hill; Sarah, Mrs Greer; John, James, and William.

The funeral was froml the house to St. Stephen's Church, Brooke, and was held Tuesday, April 12 (that being his birthday) at three o'clock. Rev. Porter of Maberly officiated. Burial was held in Brooke cemetery. Two favourite hymns were: "What a Fried We Have In Jesus" and "Nearer, My God to Thee."

The pallbeareres were Robert McVeigh, John McDougall, William Charles, neighbours, Lloyd Foster, Lloyd and Wilbert Greer, nephews of the deceased.

We regret to record the death of an old and respected resident Mr. James Code of Drummond who passed away on Monday morning May 19th, at an advanced age of 73. He was born in the County of Wexford Ireland in the year 1817 and emigrated to this country with his parents when but eight months old. His parents were about some of the first settlers of Drummond. They then took up land on what is now called fourth Con. Drummond but was then an entire wood, through many hardships as was known in them early days. He worked along with his parents while helping to clear and till the land until the year 1842 he married one of Irelands fair daughters Miss Eliza Bailey and settled down for himself on a farm on the third line which he remained up to the time of his death.

He had a family of 12 children five of whom dies in early childhood and seven of whom still remain to mourn his loss toghether with his sorrowing widow.

In religion he was a methodist from his early childhood which he always upheld and sustained. And in May 19th peacefully passed away after a lengthy illness of five months.

The Methodist Minister Mr. Henderson preached his funeral sermon taking as his text part of the XC Psalm.
