    James George McLean
    With distressing suddenness, the death occurred on Monday, Jan 1, of James George McLean, for many years a prominent business man in the district. About his work on Saturday as usual, he was stricken with a heart attack on Sunday and failed to rally.

    A tailor for more than 40 years, he had a large circle of friends throughout the district. He moved to Perth 15 years ago from the village of Lanark, where at one time he employed as many as fifteen of a staff in his business.

    Mr McLean was born at McDonald's Corners, a son of the late James McLean and Catherine Gunn. Since coming to Perth he had taken an active part in the town's welfare, and especially at St. Paul's United Church, of which he was a member.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes Prontico; one daughter, Miss Marion McLean of Brighton, Ont., two sisters, Mrs. F. Sheakley of San Diego, Cal.; Mrs A Paul of McDonald's Corners; and one brother, Hector McLean of Winnipeg.

    The funeral, which was largely attended, was on Wednesday afternoon, lJan 3, froml the chapel of Blair and Son, Gore Street, to the Lanark Village cemetery for interment. Officiating clergymen were Rev. Dr. D.N. Morden of Perth and Rev. H. McLean, formerly of Lanark. Pallbearers were John Laidley, Melville McDongall, John Molyneaux, George McTavish, Hilyard McLean, and James Prentice.

    Among those from whom floral offerings were received were the following: wreaths, Mrss. M. McLean and Marion, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Sheakley of San Diego, Cal.

    Mrs. James G. McLean
    There passed away at her home on North street in Perth, on Monday morning, October 21, Mrs James G. McLean. Wife of the late James G. McLean, deceased was well known in Perth but especially so in Lanark where she spent the greater part of her life. Mr. McLean conducted a tailoring business in Lanark for over thirty years, and fifteen years ago they came to reside in Perth.

    Mrs. McLean, whose maiden name was Agnes Prentice, was born in Lanark Village, daughter of the late James Prentice and Marrion Umpherson.

    A woman of frail health for many years, her husband's death on New Year's Day of this year was a shock which seemed greater than she could bear. Since that time her health steadily declined until she was forced to take to bed just three weeks prior to her death.

    Deceased was a home-loving lady, with her chief interests centred in her home and family. Although of quiet and retiring disposition, she made many sincere friends who deeply mour her passing.

    She is survived by one daughter, Miss Marion McLean, and one brother, J. Lorne Prentice, both of Perth.

    The funeral was on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from the chapel of Blair and Son, Gore Street, to the Lanark village cemetery for interment. Rev. W.R. Alp, B.A., of St. Paul's United Church, officiated. The pallbearers were John Laidley, Melville McDougall, George McTavish, all of Perth, John Molyneaux and Hilyard McLean of Lanark and Robert Paul of McDonald's Corners.

    James McLean, of McDonald's Corners, father of James G. McLean, Lanark, died on Friday, March 18th, at the age of 85 years. He was a native of Dalhousie, and always lived there. He was married fifty-five years ago to Miss Kate Gunn, and of the union there were born five sons and three daughters.

    At McDonald's Crs. Sun. Dec.8th, Kate Gunn, relict of the late James McLean, aged 82 years. Daughter of the late John Gunn, she was born in Lanark Twp. near Hopetown. About sixty years ago she married Jas. McLean. They had five sons and three daughters; Hugh, McDonald's Crs.; Hector, Winnipeg; John, San Diego, Cal.; and Mrs. Andrew Paul, of Dalhousie, are the survivors. Mr. McLean died two years ago. Burial in Crawford's cemetery.
