    Lavant Township, the Richmond Military Settlement etc being named after the Duke of Richmond and their ancestral home in England, the first Duke of Richmond of the Lennox line being the son of Charles II and his mistress the Duchess of Portsmouth.

    The Governor General Charles Richmond 4th Duke of Richmond was a direct descendant of Charles I executed by Lord Protector Cromwell at Whitehall.

    It is his wife the Duchess of Richmond who throws the ball of Lord Byron's poem in Brussels the night before the Battle of Quatre Bras.

    Charles Lennox dies in office being bitten by a rabid fox on his way to visit the Perth Military Settlement. He is succeeded by Earl Lord Dalhousie as Governor General, commander in chief of the British Army in North America, and it is Dalhousie who settles the Society Settlers on their lots.

    The 4th Duke of Richmond's sister is Earl Lord Bathurst's wife and the 4th Duke of Richmond's daughter the Lady Sarah Lennox married Maitland .

    Maitland and Lord Seaton the hero's of Waterloo who Wellington sends to the Canada's and who crushed the French Imperial Old Guard, the pride of the French Nation at Waterloo.
