    Died:
    Blair -
There passed away at his home, 6th line Bathurst, on Tuesday Feb. 11th, after an illness of almost a years duration, James S. Blair, aged 65 years. Deceased was a son of the late John Blair, one of the early settlers in the Bathurst township and was born on the 6th line of Bathurst, where he resided ever since. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Cameron, daughter of the late Ewen Cameron of Bathurst.

Mr. Blair was one of nature's noble men, being of a bright and cheerful disposition, he endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact. He was an ideal husband and father, and the memory of his sweet manly personality and sincere christian life will not soon be forgotten. His intellectual abilities were of a high order, and although his was a busy life, he was always interested in and kept himself informed regarding the current events and literature of the day. He lived a quiet, unostentatious life, each day of which was a testimony of the Master he loved, and a revelation of the christian faith he possessed. And although his sufferings were very great, he bore them patiently, calmly awaiting the end.

Deceased was an Anglican in religion and a Conservative in politics. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his widow, six sons and two daughters: Ewen of Haileybury, John of Maberly, Herbert, Christie Lake, Cpl Wm. J. in England; Neil of Bathurst; and Robert on the farm. Mrs. W.J. Flemming and Mrs. Leslie Strong of Maberly are daughters. Also three brothers and two sisters survive: Robert of Perth, Hugh and John of Bathurst; and Neil, deceased. Mrs Andrew Gamble, Perth and Mrs. William Gamble, Matheson, New Ontario.

The funeral was conducted by his pastor, Rev. H. E. Clarke, from his family residence to St. Stephen's church, where an impressive service was held and the remains were laid to rest in the family plot in Brooke cemetery. The pallbearers were his four sons and two sons-in-law. Much sypathy is extended to the sorrowing widow and family.

Blair - at Brooke, on Feb. 4th, 1909, John Blair, aged 89 years.

    Blair
The late John Blair who died at his home at Brooke on the 4th inst., and whose remains were interred in White's Cemetery, was truly a pioneer settler of Bathurst. He came to this county from Glasgow, Scotland, where he was born in 1820, with his parent Wm. Blair and family, beeing then a mere babe in arms. The family settled for a time in the primeval forest in South Sherbrooke near the Bathurst line, but shortly afterwards homesteaded in Bathurst.

William Blair was one of the earliest settlers of theh Brooke section of the Brooke section of Bathurst, and a founder of the Blair family in that township. The old homestead remained in the family for long generations and passed to his son James W. who farmed it till he sold out and moved to town a few years ago.

The late John Blair was married to Margaret Truelove when both were in the heyday of youth, and they struck bravely into the virgin forest, locating their home on the sixth line, in the rear of a farm on the fifth concession.

The union was blessed with a large family, and those surviving today are Neil, John, James and Hugh, and Robert of Sharbot Lake; Mrs Andrew Gamble, Wemyss, and Mrs. Wm. Gamble, Clarendon.

Mrs Blair died two years ago. Two brothers and one sister also survive: Hugh, postmaster at Rideau View near Manotick, now in his 92nd year; James W. of town, and Mrs John Truelove, Bathurst.

A curious coincidence is here narrated in reference to the political beliefs of the three brothers: Hugh Blair and his family are all Liberals, John Blair and his family, Consservative, and James W. Blair Independent.

    "Wemyss.
Death has laid low one of our old neighbors in the person of Mr. Ewen Cameron, in the 75th year of his age. He was of Highland Scotch descent. His father and mother came from Aberdeen, and deceased was born on their farm close to Bathurst Station. He was a genial, good neighbor. He and Mr. George O'Brien got the first threshing machine in the township of Bathurst, in the shape of an old Hull machine, about fifty years ago, and the deceased got a seperator and power about forty-five years ago. He threshed in Bathurst, Drummond, Sherbrooke and Burgess. About two years ago the grippe attacked him and on the 10th inst. death claimed his victim. His funeral on the 12th by its size showed the respect felt for him, as about seventy buggies followed the hearse to the old burying ground in Perth, where he was laid beside his mother in the Presbyterian enclosure. The Rev. Mr. Hague officiated. He leaves a wife and five boys and three girls to lament the loss of a kind husband and father."

    Died:
His funeral on the 12th by its size showed the respect felt for him, as about seventy buggies followed the hearse to the old burying ground in Perth, where ?b?he was laid beside his mother in the Presbyterian enclosure?/b?. The Rev. Mr. Hague officiated. He leaves a wife and five boys and three girls to lament the loss of a kind husband and father."
