    Notes:

ames Mann was a Steamboat Engineer most of his life and when he lived in Dowagiac, Michigan, he worked as a Waterworks Contractor. He emigrated to the United States between 1880-83. The family was very well off as he sent his daughter, Edna, to Italy for her college education. She taught school in Missoula, Montana and left many notes on her genealogy.

After his wife Sarah Ann (Nee Jackson) Mann passed away, he moved out to Torrington, Goshen County, Wyoming to be with his son Ernest. Ernest Jackson Mann is also buried in Valley View Cemetery. His children Edna and Ernest took care of his funeral arrangements. They buried him in Valley View Cemetery as there is no indication that he was brought back to Michigan to be next to his wife, Sarah, at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan. There is an imprint of his birth date on the gravestone, but no death date which indicates that he was buried out west. Edna, his daughter, left notes before she died and stated that her father was buried in Torrington, Wyoming. He and his family were members of the Presbyterian Church.
