George Miller would be seven years of age when his parents William Miller and Mary Burns left Dumbarton to emigrate to Lanark Cty.
He Married Helen Mason, the 3rd daughter of Robert Mason and Helen Gourlie on 6 April 1936 at Lanark and took his bride to live on C3 L9 Bathurst.
They had a total of twelve children, ten of which survived and were baptized at St. Andrew's Church, Perth.
George and Helen Miller are buried in the Craig St. Cemetery in Perth. Their unmarried daughters, Jane E. and Catherine H. are buried beside them.
In 1841 Census he is located Bathurst C3 L9W, arrived from Scotland in 1821, Presbyterian, 2 born Scotland, 3 children born in Canada.

Petition of George Millar of the Township of Bathurst eldest son and heir at law of William Millar late of the Township of Lanark in the Bathurst District
Humbly Shewith
That your Petitioners father was located as a Glasgow Society Settler in the year 1821 upon the West half of Lot No 15 in the 1st concession of Lanark in the Bathurst Districyt - That your Petitioner's father having died some years ago, your Petitioner is heir at law to his landed property - That it is only come to your Petitioner's knowledge within those few days that it is necessary for him to apply to the Commissioners appointed under the heir and Devisee Act before he can obbtain a Deed or Patent for his said lot - That it is now too late to do so for this next sitting of the Commissioners and as there a large improvements on the lot
- May it therefore please your Excellency to consider the premises and permit said half lot to remain in its present state until the meeting of the Commissioners in the year 1841 when your Petitioner shall apply as heir at law to his father and your Petitioner as is duty bound shall ever pray.

The Memorial of George Miller, of the township of Bathurst in the District of Bathurst, Respectfully Sheweth;
That your memorialist is the youngest son of the late William Miller who was the original nominee of the west half of Lot Number 15 in the First Con. of the Township of Lanark having been located theron in the year 1821, and resided on said lot from that ? until the time of his decease in the year 1825. As he died intestate, having merely expressd verbally a short time before his death his wish that the Lot referred to should become the property of your memorialist, your memoralist together with his mother and some others of the family continued to occupy the Lot for several years. But your memorialist ascertaining that he could have no legal title to the Lot, an elder brother being resident in Scotland where he still is, the lot was abandoned and has remained unoccupied for several years past and has remained unoccupied for several years past.
Your memorialist, however has recently ascertained that the Brother referred to, who is the legal claimant, wishes to emigrate to this Province, at an early period. He therfore prays, that the said lot may not .... until the meeting of the Commissioners in the year 1841 when your Petitioner shall apply as heir at law to his father and your Petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray

This petitioner prays that the location of the West half of Lot number fifteen in the 1st concession of the township Lanark belonged to his late Father may not be rescinded but that opportunity be afforded to his brother, the heir at law to claim it.
This half lot referred to was returned by the Military Settling Department as a location in the name of William Millar, an Emigrant Settler, and has not been described for Patent - The report of Inspection of May 1840 states an improvement of fifteen acres as having been made but which at that time was unoccupied. An Order in Council of 3rd Dec 1840 is filed in this Office permitting the location to remain in order to bring Testament before the Heirs and Devisees Commission but no claim has upto the present time been inferred. A further period of four years ,might be allowed within which the parties interested should be required to prove his claim.
