    Died:
McMinnville - OC Yocom passed away on November 3, 2016, at Hillside Retirement Community in McMinnville, Oregon, at the age of 94.

Born May 19, 1922, to OC Yocom and Dora Wilma (Lamson) Yocom in Willamina, Oregon, OC graduated from Willamina High School in 1940; studied business and engineering at Oregon State University and the University of Oregon before serving as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in the United States Navy with the 11 Amphibious Forces at the Normandy Invasion during World War II. After the War, OC returned to Yamhill County and was in the road construction business with his father and Claire Meisel. An entrepreneur at heart, OC was involved with many business enterprises in his lifetime-OC Yocom Co., Dayton Sand & Gravel, Pioneer Realty, Guaranty Builders, Skyline Ranch, Starr Quarry, Mac Club, Mac Wash House, and most recently, Riverside Wood Products.

OC married June Carter in 1952 in San Francisco, California. They were married for 60 years. OC and June made their home in McMinnville, Oregon, raising their children, Traci and Jess. OC believed strongly in giving back to his community and served on various boards and organizations including McMinnville City Council, McMinnville Water & Light, Yamhill County Fair Board, Yamhill County Bank Board, and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Possee. A 32nd degree Mason in Scottish Rite, OC was also a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Knights of Pythias, The Elks and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

OC was especially proud of his heritage from both his mother and father. A descendant of pioneers who came out West over the Oregon Trail in 1847, Jeremiah Lamson and Jesse B. Yocom, OC enjoyed recounting family tales in early Oregon.

Surviving OC with love and honor are his daughter, Traci, of Sheridan; son, Jess, and his wife Tamera, of Newberg; and grandson, Buddy Lamorey-Yocom, of Sacramento, California. June preceded OC in death in 2012, and we know she was waiting for him with open arms.

OC is gone, but he will never be forgotten. He will live on in our hearts and memories. In honor of OC, do one good deed anonymously. To leave private online condolences, please visit www.macyandson.com.
