    Leona ?b?Stillman ?/b?Macklen, 94, formerly of the Macklen Rd., Lorraine and widow of Bernard Macklen, passed away Friday, February 21st at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home with her daughters, Shirley and Mary at her side. She had been lovingly cared for the last few years of her life by the 5th floor staff.
    Funeral services will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced by the Lorraine United Methodist Church.
    Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Rodman. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-
    Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lorraine United Methodist Church, PO Box 380, Mannsville, NY 13661.
    She was born in Lorraine, NY, December 2, 1919, a daughter to Benjamin and May Spencer ?b?Stillman?/b?. She graduated from Adams High School in 1938. Following her schooling, Leona worked for the Glazier Kinney Drug Store in Adams until her marriage to Bernard Macklen September 23, 1945 at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Macklen owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Worth until their retirement in 1983.
    Mr. and Mrs. Macklen were active at the Stone Mills Agricultural Museum, the Lorraine United Methodist Church and the Lorraine Grange. She enjoyed gardening cooking and sewing.
    Mr. Macklen passed away April 30th, 2007.
    Leona is survived by three daughters, Shirley (Robert) Weikel, Lorraine; Mary (Noel) Trahan, Rodman; Joan Cristini, Deerfield Beach, FL. Three grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Hays, Rodman; Christopher (Yuko) Weikel, Japan; Amanda (Stephen) Osborne, Baltimore, MD; two great grandchildren, Kiki and Ruby Weikel; many nieces and nephews.
    Besides her husband Bernard, Leona was predeceased by a granddaughter as well as 5 siblings, Clarence and Spencer ?b?Stillman?/b?, Marion Moreton, Jennie Thornber and her twin brother, the Rev. ?b?Leon Stillman?/b?.

    Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Macklen, Lorraine, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary today. They will celebrate the
    occasion at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lorraine United Methodist Church with their family and friends.
    Mr. Macklen, son of the late Mark and Carlotta Macklen, and Leona ?b?Stillman?/b?, daughter of the late Benjamin and May ?b?Stillman?/b?, were married Sept. 23, 1945, in Lorraine at the home of the bride's parents with the Rev. Cuthbert Frost officiating. The Rev. Mr. Frost officiated at the wedding of the bride's parents 40 years earlier.
    Honor attendants were Bernice Humphrey, sister of the bridegroom, and ?b?Leon Stillman?/b?, twin brother of the bride.
    Mr. and Mrs. Macklen operated a dairy farm in the town of Worth for many years.
    They have three daughters, Shirley Weikel, Worth, Mary Trahan, Rodman, and Joan Cristini, Germany, and four
    grandchildren.

    "Richville, July 1.-- . . . Mr. E. J. Spooner for many years a resident of this town, died Saturday night after a protracted illness. Mr. Spooner suffered a severe shock of paralysis early in March last, and although he had been about somewhat since that time, his mind and strength gradually failed. The deceased was an enterprising farmer upon land which he cleared with his own hands, and he was highly respected by all. He was closely identified with the interests of the Congregational church, of which he and his family were members and at the time of his death held the office of deacon and trustee. For years he has been church chorister and has sacrificed time and energy to this important department of church work. Mr. S. was also a veteran of the late war and a member of Rich Post G. A. R.     Her obituary appeared on 9 Oct 1890 in the Ogdensburg Advance and St. Lawrence Weekly Democrat in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, New York, as follows: "Richville, Oct. 6th.--. . . Mrs. A. M. Spooner, widow of Deacon E. J. Spooner, recently deceased, died at her home here Sept. 25th, after a two weeks illness. She was attended by Dr. Brownlow, of Ogdensburg and McFalls, of Gouverneur, but all that medical skill could do proved in vain.
    She wasted to a mere skeleton and suffered agonies until death came to her relief. Mrs. Spooner was a member of the congregational church and prominent as a Christian worker. She leaves six children to mourn her loss, viz: three daughters, Mrs. B. F. Chandler, of this village, Mrs. Anna B. Spencer, of DeKalb and Alice M., who has been dangerously sick for months past. Three sons, Fred, John C. and Frank. The funeral services were held from the Congregational Church, which was crowded with mourning friends. The sermon by the pastor, Rev. T. T. Davies, was full of comfort and consolation."
