Darrel Lee Cooper, 77, of Minneapolis, died May 11, 2007 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on August 3, 1929, on a farm outside of Delphos, the son of Ted and Vendla (Miller) Cooper.
On March 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Shirley Comfort at Miltonvale.
Darrel's lifelong occupation was a farmer/ stockman. He also drove a cattle truck for Morton Trucking, worked on radios and TV's, owned and operated a dirt construction company, owned a machine shop, and kept books for C & R Plating and Kansas Heat. After his retirement in 1991, he taught himself how to work on and operate computers. He was a member of the Ada Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; a son, Randy Cooper and wife Sue; three daughters, Susie Reed and husband Roger, Sandy Cline and husband Kevin, all of Minneapolis, and Karen Boydston and husband Layne of Gardner; a sister, Alda Jean McCready of Bennington; 13 grandchildren: Janelle Peterson, Lindsey Thomas, Katie Holder, Justin Reed, Kandy Reed, Luke, Jake, Zach and Beau Cline, Kelsey, Paden, Ethan and Cole Boydston; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held May 15 at the Bennington Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Shields Funeral Home in Minneapolis with Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Musicians were Melba Bruce and Chelle Fleming. Casket bearers were Justin Reed, Luke Cline, Jake Cline, Zach Cline, Beau Cline, Adam Thomas and Kent Holder. Honorary bearers were Randy Reed, Paden Boydston, Ethan Boydston and Cole Boydston.
Memorials are to the church of the donor's choice or Ottawa County Hospice.
